Interview With Steve Scott Of The Word66

A Christian rock band on a mission  to spread the word with rocking melodies, and positive lyrics, coming from a place deep, within their hearts, and led by the Holy Spirit. In a recent review they were called “Gospel-spreading Las Vegans set off on a journey to glory.” But don’t let that title fool you, they rock as hard as your favorite bands.

It was a pleasure to sit with the founding member of the band Steve Scott, Check out the below YouTube Video of the Interview in its full coverage.

Founded in 2018 by veteran guitarist Steve Scott, who eventually recruited Brian Torres on vocals, Dave Murray on drums and Jay Yaskin on bass. The band is inspired by various artists including  the likes of  Sabbath, Zeppelin, Shinedown, Creed, Disciple, and Thousand Foot Krutch to name a  few.

The band’s debut single “On the way to the promise land” is inspired by the book of Exodus and has been well received worldwide and charting as high as #1, on various radio station playlists, from Christian to hardcore.  Steve had lost his way from religion and his love for playing music for many years until God brought him back to fulfill this purpose. He stated “We all have a purpose in life. It took a while to understand ours.”

The band’s purpose is to write music that will send out various messages to all who would like to hear.  Steve added “We just write some good rock n roll with positive lyrics. We like to think that in some cases we are adding some light to the darkness.”

The band just released a new EP “On the way to the promise land,” unveiling an original sound that is edgy, with a touch of commercial acceptability, bringing catchy melodies with thought provocative lyrics. Quoted as “music that delivers a 1-2 punch,” and humbly “if STRYPER are past their halcyon days now, THE WORD66 only begin  to rise and shine.”

The Word66 has been chosen to spread the good news in their unique way to all who will listen.
