Having forced listeners, face first, into the swill of bodily fluids that sits at the bottom of the human cesspit with the rotten, rapid fire Human Dignity Violated EP in 2020, Colpocleisis are back – and ready to venture further into the swamps of horror and disgust. Their hunger to explore the dankest cellars of depravity is unsated and with Elegant Degradation, their second full length album, Colpocleisis are ready to sacrifice self respect, common decency and the foundations of civilised society on the altar of sickness, debasement and humiliation once again.
Daring to go one step further into the realms of nauseating heaviness than other bands – and delighting in the carnage they uncover in the process – Colpocleisis have carved out ten new songs of rancid, primitive slams and resurrected the vile ghost of ‘Third Degree Gurns’ from the Human Dignity Violated EP. Sculpted from offal and ordure, tracks like ‘Flagellating At The Slab’ are infected outpourings of utter insanity. The turgid riffs drag their back breaking, knee buckling weight through the sonic pus, driven into lumbering movement by the savage beating of the drums, while the inhuman, gurgling vocals, like a wave of lava being forced through a shit choked sewer, roar in pain and protest. You’ll need to submerge yourself in industrial strength bleach to ever get the stench of this album out of your skin.
Out on March 3rd via the reliably rotten Reality Fade Records, Elegant Degradation is a testing and traumatic listening experience. The accomplished mixing and mastering of Januaryo Hardy at Insidious Soundlab (Stabbing, Brodequin, Anal Stabwound etc) and the unnerving artwork of Daniel Francisco add immeasurably to the overall sense of horrified awe that Colpocleisis have conjured up.
