Melbourne Extreme Metallers Release Ferocious New Single ‘Blood Eagle’
Melbourne extreme metallers Scaphis are back with a ferocious new single ‘Blood Eagle’, the second offering from their sophomore album ‘Dissected & Fermented’ due for release on July 8th, 2022.
‘Blood Eagle’ is a testimony to the band’s dedication, musical prowess and all-around brutality. Vocalist Spyke Jagerkrieg delivers blackened melodies from the deepest depths of inhumane gutturals, continuing to push the boundaries of horror through her lyricism. Flaunting their signature death metal riffage with mesmerizing guitar hooks, relentless rhythm section and a thrash oriented breakdown, ‘Blood Eagle’ is yet another extreme metal masterpiece to add to the groups impressive repertoire.
Guitarist Josh Ristrom speaks “This song has one of my favourite choruses within it! It has a more raw edge, even dabbing into some black metal elements” with drummer Lance Vegas adding “While it has a more traditional song structure than our other releases, it shows the power of a good riff”.
Scaphis made an impressive debut with their album ‘Rituals of Torture and Death’ in 2017 followed by a string of national shows including support slots for Bloodbath & Sinsaenum. Their current and previous body of music has been garnering global coverage including features on Metal Wani, Heavy Mag, Amnplify, The Rackett, Moshville Times and more. ‘Blood Eagle’ stands as a powerful follow-up to the successful release of their title track ‘Dissected & Fermented’. With their sophomore album on the horizon and a year jam packed with shows, Scaphis are set to reach new heights in the heavy music realm.
