The Bitter End is a masterpiece of 80’s NWOBHM

EXCALIBUR emerged on the coat tails of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) in the 1980’s and the release is a recording snapshot of the band in their teenage years between 1983 and 1985, A period which saw EXCALIBUR go from first demo novices lacking studio experience to a band with a firm musical vision for the recording of ‘The Bitter End’. A vision that ultimately was not shared by their label Conquest Records who, unknown to the band, remixed the album prior to its release.

‘The Bitter End’ was recorded in March 1985 by Paul McBride (vocals), Paul  Solynskyj (guitar), Martin Hawthorn (bass) and  Mick Dodson (drums) at Woodlands Studios, UK with engineer Neil Ferguson, who went on to produce the hits of pop anarchists Chumbawamba.

It is an act of awesomeness for Excalibur to the fans this masterpiece of an album from the 80’s to 2021, Where we all need those classic NWOBHM in our hearts and mind.

Excalibur has put their own mix to the album and they also released along with the original Conquest version as well along with it they share some of the demo from the 83 to 84 time period, which is just awesome.

The 16 track Reissue of “The Bitter End” is an album where you just sit relax and enjoy the magic of guitars axe your brain and the musical progression flows through your veins.

Vocals are astounding in each track, the range, the melody, the power in vocals made it so perfect. Paul McBride has given an amazing delivery in each track, it’s an addiction.
