Heralding the new era… the precursor of a new album is here.

Before I go into this marketing statement, I first want to clarify which of the many Rhapsody offshoots we are actually talking about. It is well known that the Symphonic Metallers Rhapsody had to change their name to Rhapsody of Fire because of name disputes. In 2011, the split occurred. Rhapsody of Fire was continued by Alex Staropoli under this name, while the second founding member named his band after himself, Luca Turilli’s Rhapsody. For the band’s twentieth anniversary in 2017, a reunion took place, but without Alex Staropoli. But then Turilli went his own way again, with Turilli / Lione Rhapsody. But this is about Alex Starapoli’s baby. Sounds complicated, but it is.

So, what is the content of the new era? Unfortunately, the press release is silent about that. The new song “I’ll Be Your Hero” is supposed to give a preview of the new album. Is it a bit more rocking? Or with less cinematic bombast? It seems so. It can’t be the singer alone; he’s been with the band since 2016. Also, the other musicians are, except for the drummer, actually ” long-standing” band members. And how does a German proverb say?

One swallow does not make a summer.

And a single song does not yet describe the sound of the future album. Besides this new song, you can hear a new recording of “Where Dragons Fly” (bonus song on the Japanese edition of “Legandary Years”, 2017). Two live recordings from 2019 follow, and all four versions of the ballad “The Wind, The Rain And The Moon” (in English, Italian, Spanish and French). Although the release is album length, it’s probably more of a single with various encores. So, let’s be surprised what the new album will bring.
