It is a premiere for the Romanian Rock band Scarlet Aura, founded in 2014. After six studio albums and one live album, the band has completed their first album in their native language. I’ve been following Scarlet Aura’s story for a while now and I’m always amazed by their overwhelming power, especially that of frontwoman Aura Dănciulescu. So, it goes without saying that I also listened to their latest release.

“Rock in sange si vointa” after a slightly distorted sounding intro, the Romanians start the album brutally hard. While the guitars gallop fast, singer Aura Dănciulescu screams her head off as usual. With “Ingeri si demoni” it continues in exactly the same way. Here, some Thrash elements can be heard. Scarlet Aura also go at a fast pace with “Blestemul sfintilor”. Double bass attacks make sure of that. Only with “Veteranii” does it get a bit quieter, a rhythmic neck breaker. But already “Romania canta Rock” takes the listener back into high-speed realms. “Cu pletele-n vant” sounds a bit more melodic again. Melodic guitar hooks and rhythmic drumming dominate here. The Power Metal hymn “Aripi pentru toti” provides a contemplative part of the album. Although there is also a lot of punch here. So, it is not a real ballad. For me, this is the best song on “Rock in Sange si Vointa”. Also “Sunt eu … o umbra” is a bit calmer, with grandiose riffs. The bang-along song “Uniti pana la moarte” also belongs to the quiet area. At the end there is still a ballad. Here the song “Ploaia” by a Romanian band is covered. I would rather classify the band SPIN in the Pop-Rock area. But the version by Scarlet Aura is clearly more Metal. So, I like this version better than the original. Although the original also has its strengths.

Even if “Rock in Sange si Vointa” is probably intended more for the Romanian market, it is definitely worthy of attention internationally as well. Scarlett Aura follow on seamlessly from their previous albums. In any case, a recommendation for fans of traditional heavy metal.
