Diamante Interview

By Shibalika Tamuli

How have you been?

I have been awesome!! It has definitely been crazy the last few months, especially with being on the road for the last month straight. Right now, I am with Bad Wolves for the next two months on their tour with Five Finger Death Punch, Breaking Benjamin, and Nothing More to sing “Hear Me Now.”

Tell us about CIH

Yes! Especially with it being my first full-length album, it really has a lot of sentimental value. The writing and recording process was about 18 months long, writing almost every day, and crazy long hours each day. It’s like my baby and I am just so excited that it is finally out in the world.

What got you into old school rock n’ roll? Any artists that you idolize?

When I was 14, I attended a School of Rock summer camp and that was when I was first exposed to rock music. I got to cover songs by Blondie, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and The Rolling Stones. From then on, I really fell in love with the women of the ’80s like Joan Jett, Pat Benatar, Stevie Nicks, and Lita Ford

How did everything fall into place?

After a bit of trial and error, I was able to really narrow down who I liked working with, which made it easier to hone in on a specific sound. My producer Howard Benson also played a big role in taking all the demos I had written and turning it into a cohesive full body of work. Once I had nailed down a few songs, it was much easier to explain to the people I was working with the music that I wanted.

Have you ever recorded in Spanish before? Any plans of releasing something entirely in Spanish?

No, actually. “Lo Siento” was my first time, and I am so glad it made it on the album because it breathed an entirely new life into “I’m Sorry.” After seeing how it turned out and the response from my Latin American fans, I would love to one day release an album in Spanish or at least a couple more songs.

How excited are you and how do you usually manage all the hard work?

I’m so excited!! For me, it honestly does not feel like work because I love being on tour more than anything. It’s really cool also because at this point I have already been on tour with Bad Wolves for six weeks, so I know them and the crew very well.

Any advices for fellow young artists like you having the same dreams?

Stay resilient and stay true to who you are! With the right amount of dedication and determination, anything is possible. Thank you guys so much for having me!!
