What was the beginning point for your music career? How did it all start?

I’ve (Eddie) been working on songs since I was first able to put two chords together… so a while back haha. I’ve officially started bringing people in on the project in 2017. As life works in mysterious ways, in late 2019, I had to continue the journey on my own, until I met Fil and Elliott. We met this year (2023) at the jam space we share. We hit it off from the very start and Maverick was up and running again, ready for live appearances.

Was there any bumps on the road? What kind of challenges did you have to deal with?

Bumps on the road are usual. Most of the time, things don’t go as planned. In any situation you just got to roll up your sleeves and find a way to finish the job. Long story short, the EP Bones Shaker was supposed to come out in 2018, as everything had been recorded. It finally reached the internet in 2022, with a whole different team behind.

What was the most fulfilling and satisfying moment so far?

Putting out our first EP Bones Shaker was definitely a big step for us. The first is always important and memorable ;p

How would you describe the music that you typically create?

Mainly inspired by the 80’s/90’s East Bay punk scene, we tend to put out this old school skate punk vibe. It sometimes has a bit of hardcore into it, and other time more rock n’ roll riffs… Although we like it fast and loud, we like to vary a bit from song to song.

What is your creative process like?

One usually comes with a good structure, and we build around that. Together jamming or when practicing on our own, individually. It all depends on how inspiration comes. Every body’s quite creative in the band, so whoever has something he feels like sharing and working on, if it fits the sound and we all like it, we work on it.

If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

The greed. Plain and simple. Making products out of people and shoving them down the throats of the youth for a few dollar bills. Artists must be in charge of art. Not soulless monkeys in business suits.

Oh yeah, and Ticketmaster must die.

If you were asked to give a piece of advice to upcoming bands, what would that be?

Work ethics. Don’t waste your time with people who don’t take it seriously from the beginning. Avoid the ones who see a jam session merely as an excuse to party. It’s like any relationship, if you don’t see eye to eye, respect and understanding are lacking, take what’s yours and join forces with likeminded people. A band is supposed to be fun. Gotta enjoy yourself.

What has been the best performance of your career so far?

Honestly, we treat every show like the best. And it always feels as such. So, we really couldn’t say from where we stand.

If you didn’t become a musician, what would you be doing now?

Crying in bed, in fetus position.

What is new with the band at the moment? What are you currently working on and would like to share with the world?

We’re actually more in promotion mode now. Prepping shows, perhaps tour and whatnot. We’ve got a couple of of songs in the mix now which we’re hoping to release later this year on our Bandcamp (https://maverickpunx.bandcamp.com/). Then we’ll get on the phone to book a studio session for our next EP.

With Mucho Love, Yours Truly.
