Nighthawk was founded by guitarist Robert Majd (Metalite, Captain Black Beard). When is unclear. He was supported by singer Björn Strid (Soilwork, The Night Flight Orchestra). In May of this year, “Prowler” was released, which was recorded at the famous Abbey Road Studios. The live EP “Live!” will be released in December. A show from December 6th, 2022, in Stockholm was recorded for this.
Although this EP has a lower sound level than other albums, the live sound comes out of the speakers in a powerful way. And singer Björn Strid shines with a full Rock voice. Robert Majd fires off one guitar solo after the next. The keyboards played by Richard Hamilton are often reminiscent of the good old Hammond. This gives the songs a great retro touch. “Highest Score”, “Running Wild”, “Action” and “Free Your Mind” are the first four songs from the 2023 album “Prowler”. I would have liked to hear more than just these 12 minutes. I don’t think the band only played these four songs.
If Metalite or The Night Flight Orchestra are too bombastic or poppy for you, if the Death Metal of Soilwork is not your cup of tea, you should give Nighthawk a chance. Classic Hard Rock – played straight and without frills. So, you should also get hold of the Swedes’ debut album.
