Incite Built To Destroy CD Review
Minus Head Records
2019
Groove Metal/Thrash Metal

Incite have been on a roll since their line-up settled down in 2013, releases such as ‘Up In Hell’ and ‘Oppression’ have allowed the Arizona band to build a solid foundation and with their latest album ‘Built To Destroy’, it shows that the band have lost none of their bite.
As an album, ‘Built To Destroy’ continues exactly as expected, it manages to tow and interesting line between thrash and groove metal without significantly being either. However, the band is led by Richie Cavalera, the stepson of that famous metal name Max Cavalera and this influence is peppered throughout ‘Built To Destroy’. There are enough elements here to appeal to fans of Sepultura, Soulfly and Cavalera Conspiracy, especially with thunderous tracks like ‘Resistance’, ‘Cessation’ and the title track; because of this, ‘Built To Destroy’ is certainly enjoyable, it throws out some infectious grooves and angry political commentaries and the guest appearances from the Six Feet Under and ex-Cannibal Corpse vocalist Chris Barnes and Crowbar sludge master Kirk Windstein on ‘Human Cancer’ and ‘Poisoned By Power’ only serve to strengthen this album.

Unfortunately, ‘Built To Destroy’ on the surface is relatively one dimensional and can appear to be very generic, but that is only taking the album at face value. Within a few listens, there is a whole undercurrent in this album that can be appreciated and enjoyed. ‘Built To Destroy’ continues an excellent run of albums from Incite which shows the band are far from running out of steam.
