The Italian Hard Rock band Beautiful Loser is the brainchild of singer Paolo Cintolesi and drummer Paolo Pesce and was founded in 2020. They later found a guitarist in Andrea Laurino and a bassist in Fabio Tassara. Then the songwriting began. The musicians were inspired by American Hard Rock, as celebrated by bands such as Bon Jovi, Guns’n’Roses or Van Halen. The album ‘Stars 4 A Nite’, recorded in Fabio Palombi’s studio, is now complete.

After a short keyboard introduction, ‘Scarred For Life’ starts as a powerful Rock song. Paolo Cintolesi’s vocals are underpinned by subtle riffs. Melodic Hard Rock in the vein of early Bon Jovi with a catchy sing-along chorus. The title track ‘Stars 4 A Nite’ is Classic Hard Rock with a melodic guitar melody. The drums set the rhythm. Of course there is a great guitar solo. In the ballad-like ‘Time To Say Goodbye’, melodic guitars once again dominate the sound, underpinned by subtle keyboard tapestries. Just the right song to light up the fire lighters or mobile phone lamps live. Then ‘Wings Of Butterfly’ rocks straight ahead again. A strong Stadium Rock anthem follows with ‘Borderline’. The guitars fry and deliver magical melodic arcs. The drums boom along with it. This is how ‘Kiss Me Or Kill Me’ presents itself. And the catchy chorus once again invites you to sing along. This continues with ‘Down To The City’ and ‘Razor Sharp (Baby, I’m Back To You)’ – the listener can enjoy well-crafted Melodic Rock. In between, there is another power ballad with ‘Lady Child’. The album ends with ‘Handful Of Lies’, which is a little heavier but no less melodic.

On ‘Stars 4 A Nite’, we travel back in time to the era of eighties Stadium Rock. Beautiful Loser may not have reinvented it, but they have done it skilfully. Every single song is radio playable. It’s simply fun to listen to.
