…For the record…

BTK, acronym of Bind Torture Kill, is a chaotic Hardcore trio consisting of a drummer, a guitarist and a screamer, formed in France, in the area of Lyon in 2010 with the love for heavy chaotic sound.

Screaming singing in French supports this genre with texts, mainly and neutrally, narrating, serial killers crimes or remarkable sanguinary petty crimes. Originally, the band is a classic one, i.e. it includes a bassist. After some demo tapes, the group self-produced and released its first and eponymous EP in 2013.

In 2015, after multiple bassists changes, the group decided to continue as a guitar, drum and singer trio. It released the same year its first album, ‘Condamné’, self-produced as well. Then, BTK recorded its second album ‘Viscères’, which was released by WOOAAARGH! (Germany), Troffea (France/Switzerland) and Hell-J Industries (France) in January 2018.

The sound of the group became heavier with its second album as the guitars had been recorded with the same set up as in live : a guitar plugged into three amps: 2 guitar amps and a bass amp that is equipped upstream with an octaver pedal for further massiveness. As time went by, Bind Torture Kill’s style has evolved : Death and Mathcore of the beginning gradually changed into a chaotic and dark Hardcore, which is spruced up with loud feedbacks and all sorts of filthy sounds and is drawn from all extreme styles : Punk, Crust, Grind, Black Metal.

In 2023, BTK recorded its third album “Sauvagerie” at Warmaudio in Décines with Kris Banel. Nick Zampiello (New Alliance East, Boston) was in charge of the mastering. Although the guitar setting remains the same (a guitar and 3 amps), the sound gets more aggressive and abrasive with the addition of the legendary HM2 pedal. This is a turning point in the group’s sound identity, enabling even more its savage and raging personality to be asserted. Hence, this album proves to be darker and more violent than the previous one. The grain becomes irtier. Fast parts alternate with breaks and heavy, down and dirty riffs.
