Horse Of Troja
Harder & Heavier
Label: Sliptrick Records
Out: September 10th, 2024
Playing time: 15:27

The Swedish Hard Rock band Horse Of Troja was founded in the early eighties in Märsta (Stockholms län, historical province of Uppland). The band later broke up before reuniting. In addition to three founding members, two new members joined the band. Today, the musicians live all over Sweden. And they still indulge in the Classic Hard Rock from the founding period. In the rare information I was able to find a previously released EP (‘Night Ride’, presumably 2017), of which there is apparently an extended re-release. The EP ‘Harder & Heavier’ was released in September this year. But when I look at the track list, I can only find one new song (‘Harder & Heavier’). The rest is from the previously mentioned EP or the re-release.

Time seems to have stood still. ‘Leaving’ sounds so wonderfully old school. Although, that’s not quite true, the production is modern, really powerful. ‘Harder & Heavier’ is probably the only new song on this EP. A spark of Epic Doom is spread here in mid-tempo. There is also a chorus sung in several voices, which will certainly be sung along loudly live. The obligatory guitar solo is not missing either. Things get anthemic with ‘Instant Drug’. Finally, ‘No Mercy’ is Hard Rock at its best.

Sweden is a guarantee for high-quality Heavy Metal and Hard Rock. Horse Of Troja are no exception. I would like to hear more from the band. I think it’s time for a full-length album. But with new songs, please.
