‘English Darkness‘ is the band’s second single and lyrically explores frontman Phillip Morris’ work as an NHS-approved mental health professional (AMHP) observing a psychiatric admission from both sides of the coin. The track juxtaposes a young female’s crisis with the narrator’s questionable coping strategies.
The music video for English Darkness was directed by Stewart Baxter, the Hull artist behind the critically acclaimed video for Idles’ ‘Pop Pop Pop‘. It was shot in Sunk Island, a village near Hull, where frontman Morris is from originally.
With this latest track, Wildernesses once again show why they’re ones to watch.
