What was the beginning point for your music career? How did it all start?
Charles Why: During the covid Lockdown I sent some musical ideas to Laur and it started from there. When we were teenagers, we started our first band together, Laur on drums and me on Bass. Since then Laur had switched to vocals (he always wrote lyrics) and I had learned how to produce.
Was there any bumps on the road? What kind of challenges did you have to deal with?
Charles Why: mainly the distance (Australia>France) but that can be a blessing in disguise as it allows us to never rush our decision 😉
Laur : It’s both a blessing and a curse because even if it has big disadvantages, I think it reinforces our identity.
What was the most fulfilling and satisfying moment so far?
Charles: having released our first vinyl after a 2 years period of working on it was a nice moment.
Laur: Definitely the vinyl release! We grew up listening to vinyl records and cassette tapes.
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
Charles: this is definitely Post-Punk but we used to called it “Industrial Dance Rock”. Recently some reviews defined our sound as“Glam Goth” and we kind of like it.
Laur: Shamanic alternative rock? 🙂

What is your creative process like?
Charles Why: we usually start with the music. I would record a “bed track” (drums, rhythm guitar and bass) more or less arranged (there are no strict and rigid guidelines) and send it to Laur for him to add his vocals. Then the song goes back and forth between us until we are satisfied.
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
Charles Why: less reliance on Spotify and streaming maybe. Once the genie is out of the bottle though… Best business model to my mind is BandCamp.
Laur: Giving more importance to the album format again instead of single streamings…
If you were asked to give a piece of advice to upcoming bands, what would that be?
Charles Why: create music for yourself first and foremost.
Laur: If something doesn’t feel right from the start, just don’t do it.

If you didn’t become a musician, what would you be doing now?
Charles Why: I have a professional activity. This probably allows me to be free in what we create musically.
Laur: Same thing with me. Music doesn’t pay the bills.
What is new with the band at the moment? What are you currently working on and would like to share with the world?
Charles Why: Friday the 13th of June, we released our new album, “Shamanic Faultlines” on vinyl (with a Splatter limited edition), digital and CD. For this album we invited several of our musicians friends to collaborate: Dick Dens from “The Irradiates” played guitar on two tracks, Loki Lockwood (from Velatine and founder of Spooky Records) played synth on one, Boris Boublil (Mu and Emilie Loizeau) Moog and organ, Jean-Philippe Feiss played Cello, Inga Liljestrom lent us her superb voice on a few songs, Peter Miller played Theremin, Blair Manie the Oud, Alex Zillon, an old Friend of ours, duet with Laur on one song. All in all an album we are very proud about. If you are not too fainted heart, give it a try;-)
