Snei Ap – Escape!

I got to know the Italian band Snei Ap in May at the Metal Queen’s Burning Night Festival. However, the band exists a few years longer. Snei Ap were founded in May 2011. Two years later, the first EP “Hidden Floors” was released. In 2013 they were also support for the Swedish Crucified Barbara and gave three concerts in the UK (UK mini tour). The work on the debut album “Sick Society” hardly started after returned. This was released 2014 via buil2kill Records / Nadir Music worldwide. There followed several singles. A highlight in the career should have been the support for Girlschool (Bologna 2016). The second EP “(In) sane Minds” was released by Volcano Records in 2018. Now only drummer Sonia Ghirelli is left of the original lineup. And now they reach the next milestone. The second album “Escape” is released in October on their own.
Merciless hard Snei Ap going on. For this, especially the riffs of Adil and the powerful drumming of Sonia make. Valeria makes for deep bass notes and singer Angie lives up to her nickname “The Lioness”. She roars loudly into the microphone. After less than three minutes, the tremendous outcry “Escape!” is over again. The following songs are only marginally longer. No one will take longer than four minutes. And who believes that the musicians are calmer, he is wrong. Also “Breakdown” kicks full your ass. And impresses with an excellent guitar solo. Also, in “Fuck Off M8” Snei Ap put all their anger. These girls and their male guitarist should not be annoyed. Somewhat quieter then affects “E.L.I.S.”, at least temporarily. Who does not want that? “Wanna Be A Millionaire”. A fast, straightforward Hard Rock song with an alternative touch, thanks in particular to the somewhat weird-sounding vocals. And again, a brilliant guitar solo is the icing on the cake. On “You Without Me” Snei Ap seem to want to crush everything. The deep bass melody, the hard riffs and the sometimes-hectic singing signal, you are nothing without me. “Io Sono Un Problema” is the first song the band wrote in their native language. The hectic singing reaches its climax here. And the instrumentation works the same way. Not only thanks to the text, this song sounds very Italian. Here, the southern temperament goes through the musicians. Only the extreme musical hardness does not quite fit into this cliché.
Heavy riffs, very good guitar solos, powerful bass, driving drums, paired with a slight punk attitude – the sound of Snei Ap is ready. And the only cliché that serves the band here is the already mentioned southern temperament (see also the album cover). Otherwise, Snei Ap are one of the most untypical Italian metal bands. No progressive sound gadgets, no operatic vocals, but straightforward metal. Here, the musical forces are unleashed. And that’s exactly what makes this album so worth listening to.
