Greetings from Metalheads Forever Magazine, How are you today?
Greetings to you and the readers, and thank you for the interview! It’s a cold winter morning here; I’ve lit the fireplace, and after answering your questions, I’ll be continuing work on the fifth WitcheR album.
You released your new album “Öröklét” on November 4 2025, Would you like to share about the songwriting process and making of the album?
That’s right, it was a long, long journey. After the success of Lélekharang, we wanted to create another great album – one filled with memorable melodies and the atmosphere our listeners have come to expect from us. We worked the same way we always have: Karola first envisioned the melodies, then I added the raw black metal foundations, and finally we brought in the lyrics and vocals. Everything was created in our home studio, which allowed us to work comfortably and move forward at our own pace.

Tracklist:
1. Örökség
2. Szélhozó
3. Röghöz kötött
4. Öröklét
5. Piano Trio No. 2 – Andante con moto (Franz Schubert cover)
Was there a concept behind the album?
From the very beginning, WitcheR albums have always been built around a clear concept. This time as well, the central theme is witchcraft -the reverence for the past and the rejection of the ideals of the modern world. These ideas form the backbone of the lyrics, while also complementing the music itself, which can be seen as a kind of journey back in time.
A great artwork goes behind the album, a darkened story that it reveals in the artwork, would you like to share a few words on the artwork?
The album artwork was once again created by our friend Balázs Pénzes, with whom we share a very strong creative wavelength. He has a deep understanding of what WitcheR is about – what we want to express and what we want to see visually – and he is able to translate that vision perfectly into artwork. We firmly adhere to the classic approach: exclusively hand-crafted covers. We are not fond of digital art, nor AI-generated visuals.
The cover depicts the miracle of Öröklét (Eternity): a young witch bidding farewell to an elderly witch who has passed on all of her knowledge, thus granting the younger one the chance for eternal life.
A 5 tracked Atmospheric Black Metal album with amazing vocals, great musicianship, an album that touches the soul with great work, how do you feel about the outcome of the album?
Thank you very much for the positive feedback. I’d be lying if I said this album couldn’t have been even better – of course, it has its flaws, especially when it comes to the mixing and mastering – but we are satisfied with it. What we wanted to convey, we managed to achieve. We’ve received a lot of excellent reviews and fan feedback, so we couldn’t be happier.
Would you like to tell me on the making of the video Öröklét & Szélhozó?
We definitely wanted to create more music videos for the new album. Ideas kept flowing, and eventually we realized that we could even make a connected, continuing story. The two videos together form a larger whole, like an art film – not overly literal, but rather allowing the viewer to fill in the story with their own imagination. Both videos were entirely self-produced; no one assisted us with filming or post-production. Obviously, the production isn’t professional-grade, but we were still able to convey exactly what we intended.
Also the last track Piano Trio No. 2 – Andante con moto a great cover on the classic of Franz Schubert, it’s a great rendition and a great tribute to the phenomenol music, would you like to share how you picked this for the album?
It’s also a tradition for WitcheR to include a classical music arrangement at the end of each album. In fact, we even released a single focused specifically on this concept. Schubert’s piece was considered for the previous album as well, but back then we went with Beethoven. This time, however, we decided to tackle Schubert, and it fit perfectly with the album’s atmosphere, which was an important factor in our choice.
What’s the plan for 2026, specifically on the touring?
For WitcheR, 2026 is primarily about creating new music. Four songs for the fifth album are already taking shape, and we are continuously working on them. However, we still want to give fans something this year – a brand-new track that will be completely independent from the upcoming album. We definitely won’t be touring, as we don’t perform live. That said, we receive so many questions and invitations from major festivals that we will need to carefully consider our approach in the future.
Formed in 2010, 15 years of Black metal awesomeness, how has the road been so far?
Exciting and enlightening. In the beginning, we created WitcheR to be able to create music, to leave our mark, and to feed the souls of people like us. That’s still important today, but over the past 15 years so much has happened: we now have four albums behind us, and through the band we’ve grown not only as musicians but also as people. Our lives would be completely different without WitcheR, which is such an intimate part of us – almost like a ritual.
Would you like to share some of the highlights for the band?
For us, real highlights are every comment or message we receive from our fans. We don’t have grand expectations; we’re not rock stars, so we’re just as happy when someone comes up to talk to us or take a photo at a concert or festival. Even the smallest things mean a lot – for example, we were under its effect for days when one of our fans told us that our music was played at their wedding. Is there a greater honor for a band than that?

What’s next for Witcher?
As I mentioned, we are putting all our energy into the new album, and I can assure our fans: if you’ve enjoyed what we’ve done so far, you won’t be disappointed going forward. It’s possible that the new album will not be released under our own label, but through a larger one, and hopefully this will be decided in 2026. We will also release another new track this year, but I’d like to highlight our most recent video, released just a few days ago, which we intended to use to close the Öröklét album. This is the third video for the album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DClg3LYcWD4
Finally any message for the fans around the world?
We would like to thank all our fans from around the world for their support. It’s thanks to you that our new album has reached so many places. If someone doesn’t know us yet but enjoys Summoning, the atmosphere of ’90s black metal, and classical music, feel free to check out one of our songs. CDs, cassettes, and a few T-shirts are available on our Bandcamp, and we even have a vinyl released through Beverina Productions!
