LANTLOS unveil video single ‘Solar Death‘
from the new album “Nowhere in Between Forever“
LANTLOS leave earth’s gravity behind and freely drift into the centre of their sonic planetary system with the music video ‘Solar Death‘ as the next advance single taken from the forthcoming new album “Nowhere in Between Forever“, which is chalked up for release on April 3, 2026.
LANTLOS comment: “The track ‘Solar Death’ orbits around the power of the sun”, mastermind Markus Skye states. “It’s a thick, distorted and dreamy wall of sound, drawing equally from 90s aesthetics and several musical influences such as doom, drone, and shoegaze. In a way, it can be seen as a successor to the concept of ‘Melting Sun’ with its sense of childhood summer nostalgia. Yet it sounds and feels less organic, less ‘honey and bees’, and comes with a rather synthetic aura – a psychedelic vision of a sublime digital heaven.”

LANTLOS capture the ‘The Unfathomable Lightness of Being’ like hardly any other band that started out under the influence of black metal at what now feels like a million years earlier. On their sixth studio album, “Nowhere in Between Forever”, mastermind and sole musician Markus Skye (formerly known as Markus Siegenhort aka Herbst) takes the general direction of its predecessor “Wildhund” (“Wild Dog”) at least one step further and onto a fresh course.
“Nowhere in Between Forever” offers a spiritual trip into the glittering world of the Nineties, when everything seemed somehow easy and possible. The album offers a collection of hit songs that are rooted in the current LANTLOS sound, to which it adds elements from the digital sonic sphere that started to expand drastically during the final decade of the last millennium. On the other hand, it would be doing this album massive injustice to view it as pure nostalgia. As Skye notes, there is a hollow plastic feeling that is deliberately built into “Nowhere in Between Forever” and subtly casts a foreboding shadow of darker times to come.
These musical plot-twists connect the easy-going, seemingly sunny and even poppy alternative rock and metal tracks to the black past of LANTLOS. Followers of this outstanding rock and metal entity are by now mostly used to the ever-changing nature and constant evolution of Markus Skye’s bubbling musical creativity, which is part of their charm.
Yet, LANTLOS’ current jump is not crossing such a wide gap as particularly between “Agape” (2011) and “Melting Sun” (2014) and again between the latter and “Wildhund” (2021), when the band first shed its sonic chrysalis and then fully emerged as an alternative metal butterfly that could be located somewhere in that warped sonic space between DEVIN TOWNSEND, SMASHING PUMPKINS, HUM, and DEFTONES.
Multi-instrumentalist Markus Skye originally founded LANTLOS together with his friend Anggrau in 2005, while still under the influence of black metal. This is reflected on the band’s rare first demo “Îsern Himel” and their self-titled debut album that both appeared in 2008. The band took their name from the Middle High German word “lantlôs” meaning “homeless” or literally “without land”.
The first full-length “Lantlôs” featured contributions from EÏS fronter Florian “Alboin” Dammasch, whom Markus replaced with ALCEST vocalist Stéphane “Neige” Paut for the next two full-length releases “.neon” (2010) and “Agape” (2011). The change of vocalist also marked a shift towards blackgaze and post-black metal.
LANTLOS again changed direction with the fourth album “Melting Sun” (2014). Markus had amicably parted ways with Neige and instead took on all vocal duties himself. This coincided with moving even further away from the black metal origins of his band.
With “Nowhere in Between Forever”, LANTLOS confirm both the stylistic trajectory taken with the last two albums and their remarkable ability to create captivating tunes and beautiful melodies with a nearly frightening ease. Trigger warning: “Nowhere in Between Forever” contains only beautiful killers and no fillers!
