If you had to pick two guitarists to shake a nation with guitar rock, it would be Soren Andersen (Glenn Hughes/Jesper Binzer) and Mika Vandborg (Loveshop/Gnags). They have done so for decades under the ELECTRIC GUITARS banner – and they still do. Forever searching. And better than ever. Now with a new single: “The Messenger”.

It started out as just a bit of fun. And it still is. A boys’ project became reality, and they continue to play relentlessly across the country because they neither want to nor can live without the pure, uncompromising love for the guitar rock they grew up with. And neither can Denmark.

The heroes of the past have not stopped them from continuing to aim for the highest common denominator, and the single “The Messenger” is yet another solid proof of that. Andersen and Vandborg explain: “We were born in the ’70s and will never run from our time, but we move with it. We have to, and we want to. And in “The Messenger”, an actual disco beat will force people onto the dance floor. We love bringing generations together, and we always do – but if one happens to be missing, “The Messenger” is the ticket into our world”.

“Save me, heal me, teach me tonight,” goes one of the lines in the song, where lyricist Andersen points towards “The Messenger” – the bearer of advice – who always seems to know exactly what everyone else should do.

“The Messenger” is available now on all streaming services and has also been released in a lyric video.

I call it an abstract story about the dilemma of ‘everyone else’ always knowing best – so well that they fail to see that the person they are advising is already in the process of doing exactly the right thing”, Anderson says.

In the band’s own words, this is pure, unfiltered guitar rock, delivered by a “grown-up rock band” with pockets full of everything but AI… “While we celebrate our heroes, play into the future, and hold on to the most important thing of all – the guitar”, Vandborg completes.

Four on the floor. No nonsense. “The Messenger”. Wrapped in swagger, of course.
