So, somehow, I must have missed something. Or perhaps I didn’t receive the information. Last May, I reviewed GOOT’s EP ‘The Toll Remains The Same’. Shortly afterwards, I interviewed Yan Fedyaev (aka GOOT) and bassist Simone Sut (aka Zimon). At the beginning of 2026, the second part of the debut album ‘Destitute Souls – Part II’ was released. At least, that’s what the press release says. It obviously didn’t reach me. The third release, in collaboration with singer David Reece, is due out in July. If I haven’t miscounted, this is already GOOT’s seventh album, alongside nine EPs, one compilation and countless singles.

‘Mors Aeterna’ kicks off with an epic guitar intro. Then David Reece’s remarkable voice comes through. Excellent melodic Rock in the mid-tempo range. With the riff driven ‘My Time’, GOOT really increase the pace. The guitar solo is simply brilliant. GOOT have released a lyric video for the power ballad ‘The Feed’. The vocals really come into their own here. Heavy riffs can be heard in the middle section. An absolute highlight. ‘Darker Me’ is a melodic Metal song. Occasionally, the double bass is used subtly. ‘Realign’ follows as a strong Metal anthem. Alongside the powerful riffs, layers of keyboards can be heard time and again. And another guitar solo with an extremely catchy melody. On the ear-catching ‘Never Enough’, there’s another slight increase in tempo. And so it continues with the Power Metal banger ‘Tides Of War’. At times, the guitars and keyboards sound a little shrill. ‘Jagged Outlines’ is the album’s second ballad – partly calm and contemplative, partly powerful. Finally, things get really heavy once more with ‘Turn Away’ and ‘Victims To The Fight’.

Could anything really go wrong with an artist like David Reece as the singer and arranger? I don’t think so. His vocal performance is truly outstanding. I can’t say for certain which arrangements are his and which are by Theodor Borovski. But the album is very well arranged and produced with precision and power. And it was recorded by excellent musicians. Having been impressed by the EP mentioned above, this international band also won me over completely with this full-length album. The only thing that wasn’t quite to my taste was the album cover.
