Nocturnal Eternity is a Symphonic Metal band from Târgu Mureș (Romania). The band was formed in 2020 under the name Nocturnal. They changed their name four years later. They have made a name for themselves with their powerful blend of Heavy Metal energy and magnificent orchestral arrangements. Following the single ‘Feelings Of Confidence’ (2023), their debut album ‘Eternity’ was released in May 2024. I asked the band why they had launched another promotional campaign for the album.

Although Eternity was released earlier, we recently started a new international promotional campaign for the album. As an independent band, we were not able to reach all the relevant media and audiences when it was first released, so we decided to give the album a second promotional push.

So, I decided to have a closer listen to the album.

Anyone who reads my reviews regularly will know that I generally don’t think much of long intros. The ‘Intro’ on ‘Eternity’ is almost two and a half minutes long. The orchestrations and epic vocalises at least provide a melodic focus. So it’s an intro of the better kind. The first regular song, ‘Fight For The Hope’, is introduced by heavy riffs, epic choruses and angry growls. Although singer Veronica Fizeșan is listed as a soprano, she’s clearly comfortable with the lower notes too. Otherwise, the track has everything you’d expect from Symphonic Metal: beautiful melodies, varied orchestration, choruses and just the right amount of heaviness. ‘Live My Own Fate’ is then a little heavier and faster, without sacrificing the beautiful melodies. Veronica Fizeșan enchants with her clear soprano. It’s pleasing that she hardly ever switches into opera-aria mode. Once again, we hear the ‘Beauty and the Beast’-style interplay; however, this isn’t overused. In ‘Feelings Of Confidence’, heavy riffs blast out of the speakers without warning. Things calm down when the soprano vocals kick in later on. A few high-pitched vocalises introduce ‘Betrayed By His Love’. Despite some harsh growls from Alex Nasca, the song remains melodic. ‘Are You The One’ is a contemplative ballad in which Veronica once again ventures into the lower register. At times, it is accompanied by heavy but calm riffs. In contrast, ‘Face The Trouble’ gets heavier again, though only slightly faster. The clear soprano vocals dominate this song alongside the guitar riffs. ‘Walk With Me’ is driven by fast riffs and powerful drums. The musical competition between the soprano vocals and the growls is clearly audible. The anthem ‘My Time Has Come’ is arguably the fastest and heaviest track on the album. Alongside vicious growls, brass instruments can also be heard at times. However, the crystal-clear soprano vocals are also a defining feature. I do find it a bit of a pity that the title track ‘Eternity’, of all things, has to serve as the outro. A one-minute e-piano and synth strings, along with a few choruses, don’t quite give it the attention it deserves.

With ‘Eternity’, the Romanian band have released a good debut album that certainly deserves a second chance to be promoted. Strong vocal performances set against beautiful melodies provide over forty-three minutes of excellent entertainment. I’ve excluded the intro and outro from this calculation.
