Rising Alma is an international Melodic Hard Rock band. The three musicians hail from Latvia, Uruguay and Germany.

The band blends the intensity of melodic hard rock with the atmosphere and edge of alternative rock, resulting in a sound that is both modern and deeply expressive.

This is what you can read on the band’s website. Following their founding in 2021, their debut album ‘Awake’ was released in August of the following year. In July 2025, the band released the follow-up, ‘Cracking The Moment’. And now Rising Alma are releasing a five-track EP.

The EP gets off to a quiet start with the title track ‘Your Own Story’. The sound then becomes more intense, however. Alīse Elme’s voice is versatile and has a slight alternative touch in places. At the start of ‘Underneath’, you can hear an acoustic guitar and Alīse’s calm, relaxed voice. Quiet and rock-inspired passages then alternate. The band produced a video for ‘Colors Flow All Around Us’ and released it in June. Here too, things get heavier after a quiet start, though without leaving the mid-tempo range. The singer once again impresses with her expressive and multi-faceted voice. Towards the end, there’s a powerful guitar solo to enjoy. Bass and guitar licks introduce ‘Authenticity’. Later on, there’s a slight wah-wah effect. Even though it sounds a bit heavier in places, the tempo doesn’t pick up. Subtle hits of the cymbals are layered beneath the guitar riffs. The closing track, “Endless”, is also a contemplative mid-tempo rocker.

Rising Alma favour quiet, almost contemplative sounds. Of course, there’s plenty of power to be found here too. Listeners can look forward to twenty minutes of highly melodic Hard Rock, featuring beautiful, clear female vocals. It’s certainly not a new concept, but it’s executed very well. And it should encourage listeners to check out the band’s two previous albums as well.
