Gargant is known for its powerful, dark Power Metal, driven by massive riffs, epic melodies, and a dark atmosphere.

The band from Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) has deep roots in 1990s-style Heavy Metal. After forming in 2022, they initially released three singles. Their debut album, ‘Dead Night Defiance’, was recorded at Tellus Studio. It was released digitally as early as November 2025 and made it onto numerous charts. This success helped Gargant sign a worldwide record deal with Fireflash Records. The album will now also be released on CD and vinyl in September.

From the very start, ‘Stormfall’ blasts the listener with riffs. Singer Guilherme Sevens is occasionally backed by a harsh-sounding chorus. Tough Heavy Metal is paired with a powerful guitar solo. The title track, ‘Dead Night Defiance,’ takes the tempo up a notch. The vocals sound slightly pressured, driven by hard drums and fast riffs. Once again, a fast guitar solo is the highlight of the song. ‘Ghost Riders’ begins with bass, followed by rhythmic riffs. And the rhythm no longer reaches the speed records of the previous songs. The intensity remains high. ‘A Reckoning Into The Mourning Hall’ kicks off hard and fast—less rhythmic, slightly slower, and featuring a melodic chorus. The Metal anthem ‘Fallen King’ is then a bit calmer at times. But the raspy vocals are driven forward by the drums and guitars. ‘Sons Of Chaos’ follows as an epic power ballad, with soaring guitars and quiet vocal passages. The two guitarists, Caio Mendonça and Leandro Carvalho, deliver another impressive performance. But things quickly turn serious again with ‘Devil’s River.’ The vocals grow harsher, the riffs heavier. Yet melodic choruses resound time and again. In contrast to this is the high-speed guitar solo. With the riff-heavy closer ‘Battlechaser’, Gargant picks up speed once more. In addition, synth strings add to the epic atmosphere.

It has been well known for years that Brazil is home to a large number of good and very good Metal bands. Gargant is no exception. In every note, you can sense the experience the five band members have gained in their previous bands. ‘Dead Night Defiance’ is a more than convincing debut album.
