Sonically inducing a depraved and morbid condition of the mind, INSIDIOUS DISEASE have returned to present their second full length album: AFTER DEATH. Freshly signed to Nuclear Blast Records, the band convenes (with members currently and previously of DIMMU BORGIR, MORGOTH, NILE. NAPALM DEATH, and SUSPERIA) to create a modern venture into classic death metal. Still in the early stages of existence with only their debut album Shadowcast (2010) preceding, INSIDIOUS DISEASE are ripe with a hellish energy that seeks to sear its way across the universe of heavy metal. “It’s not supposed to be re-inventing the wheel or anything, it’s just about finding a good groove that we feel comfortable with,” explains guitarist and founding member Silenoz.
Death Metal hasn’t died, it just required a compelling, and qualified reignition.

Was rekindling death metal intentional or you were at the right place the right time?
well, I was 16 when I recorded my first Death Metal Demo (1987) with Morgoth in the 80ies, so I guess this answers it quite easy. Same probably with Shane Embury…the other guys are slighty younger, but in general I would say we all have our roots in the early DM movement…
We’ve seen the brutal death metal side of yours through the album and we loved it. BUT what I really want to see is the goofy side as well. Please, describe a ridiculously funny event that happened to you in your career in music.
Haha, I can only speak for myself, but there were a lot of goofy moments over the last 35 years or so…I recall one from a Wacken OA appearance where I stood in front of the Monitor speakers, wanted to start to sing, walked back a few steps and stumbled/fell most ridiclulously over those speakers…it felt absolutely stupid, and I guess it´s not the best thing to do, if you have one of your biggest crowds you ever performed to, laugh their ass off…the only thing is to take those things easy and with a laugh…
Using only one word: What does the music industry need right now?
believe into their bands to develope them with passion over a longer period of time…
You are so metal that every time you enter a room, your own theme music starts playing. What song would you choose to announce your arrival?

You are releasing your second full-length album, After Death, on October 30th via Nuclear Blast and this is your first record in a decade. What did you miss the most during those years?
Well, everybody in this band has/had their other bands, so…we were all kind of buys in one way or the other. But talking about ID in specific, I miss to play those songs that will be released on October 30th…We played those songs before on European festivals, and always got great reactions to them, even if the fans didn´t know the songs yet…so it´s definately a bummer, that we won´t be able to play those tracks after the release of the album right away…fingers crossed, that things will normalize next year!!
If you could take the stage and give a talk about anything you wanted, what would you talk about?
Right now, I would talk about the new Borat movie, and how great it will be…just saw the new trailer, hilarious ,hahaha
Most startup bands fail because they are delusional about how easy it is to survive as a professional musician. What words of wisdom would you share with them to knock some sense into them?
Well, I have had this experience in the early 90ies, where I just lived of Morgoth. But I was probally smart enough to know, that this wouldn´t last forever. I would give the advice to find another thing that you are passionate for, but pays your rent, bills and so on on an longer term period of time. I for example studied social work in the 90ies, and in the end this is the work that finances me and the familiy. Music is a great passion I have, but I think to live off it, you have to suffer and work extremely hard, and I prefer to enjoy music when I want to…there was a time I had to struggle to live off music, and at the same time it was killing the passion for it, because I had to. So be smart, always have a plan B, if it doesn´t work out with you band 😉

I guess it helps here and there, but in the end its just the quality of music that counts…
202O was strange and unforgiving but also weirdly ‘koselig’, don’t you think? Were there any parts that you enjoyed and would do all over again?
NO…this year was horrible so far…I miss going to live shows, hang out in beer gardens and discuss idiots that deny the virus!!
