What was the beginning pint for your music career? How did it all start?
We started in the springtime of 2012. Anders (guitar/vox) wanted to start up a new project with fresh blood. He met up with the drummer and they agreed on what kind of music and so on… They needed a bass player, and my name came up. We met up and did a few rehearsals, and Hey Presto, Ohmwork were born. And in the end of that year, we went into studio and started on our first album.
Was there any bumps on the road? What kind of challenges did you have to deal with?
A few bumps have there been I would say… Money for one. That has been a hinder for traveling as much we wanted. And the production side of things. More time in studio would be nice, but because of the costs we have just so and so long time in studio.
What was the most fulfilling and satisfying moment so far?
That we still make albums and keep on truckin’ and done some awesome gigs at great venues.
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
Good question. Best described as a soup of 70’s-80’s-90’s rock/metall. We like to incorporate different styles into our songs. From straight heavy metal to little proggy rock.
What is your creative process like?
In the beginning we just met up at the rehearsal room and a riff would come up, and we just jammed around that theme. Adding some more stuff into it ‘till it starts to sound like an actual song. But these days we send ideas over to each other. Because of Covid we haven’t had the chance to meet up and play, since we all live in different places in Norway.
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
To give the little unknown bands a chance. Promote them more. There is a galaxy of great bands the world never has heard before.
If you were asked to give a piece of advice to upcoming bands, what would that be?
Don’t give up. Never. If you love doing this, just go on no matter what.
What has been the best performance of your career so far?
Hmm… I think Bukta Open Air 2016. We had a great time there, and we really delivered! That is the gig that really stands out in our book.
If you didn’t become a musician, what would you be doing now?
A time traveler. Always wanted to be one… Or, what I do now, working in a youth care home.
What is new with the band at the moment? What are you currently working on and would like to share with the world?
Well, we are currently writing new material for a new album/EP. We haven’t decided yet… We are sending ideas to each other, so things are in motion. Otherwise, we are looking forward to the release of our new album Pareidolia in August and then get out on the road again. Been too long now…
