THE CONVALESCENCE by Craig Obert

Toledo, Ohio…known for being the Glass Capital of the World, makers of Jeep, amazing local cuisine and the home of Maxwell Q. Klinger…..and now for The Convalescence!  This is Death Metal/Deathcore band you need to hear….now!

I have been given the privilege of asking  a few questions to this very busy band.

Thanks for taking time to talk to us. Seems like you live on the road…so instead of asking about the craziest thing you have ever encountered, I’m gonna ask what is the most boring? And what would you have done (in retrospect) to liven it up?

The most boring thing about touring is probably sitting around waiting, it doesn’t matter if it’s at a venue, at Wal Mart, or a truck stop it’s just boring. Some of the guys listen to music, Katie reads, some of us scroll through social media feeds, there just isn’t much to do a lot of the time.

Your influences are varied (Veil of Maya, Carniflex, Born of Osiris, Mercyful Fate) to name a few.  Who are some other influences your fans may be surprised to hear about?

Our band is very diverse as far as what we listen to, me personally I’m into more of the Deathcore stuff like Whitechapel, Carnifex, Oceano, Thy Art Is Murder, etc. but I also spend a lot of time listening to bands from other genres such as Iron Maiden, Grateful Dead, and Johnny Cash.

I just missed you on tour with Testament…(Dying Gorgeous Lie was in your spot)…I see you will be with Goatwhore in Denver on Sept. 11th….I will be there! How is the touring life? Any new material coming from your road life experiences?

That’s awesome! We’re looking forward to meeting you in Denver. Our material always comes from how we’re feeling at the time and our thoughts at the moment we’re writing so naturally some of our situations on the road since we spend anywhere from six to nine months a year on tour will influence something on the following album

Metalheads Forever has a lot of readers all over the world. What would you like to tell the world about your hometown, Toledo…or Ohio general…and the Metal scene there?

I think the Metal scene in Ohio is great. There are so many killer bands that are currently coming up in the scene here and so many big names that have come from Ohio in the past. We’re proud to have started the band as part of that scene.

Where can your fans find you in the second half of 2017 heading into 2018?

We’ll be hitting the road Sep.1st – Oct.2nd with Venom Inc, Goatwhore, and Toxic Holocaust around the full U.S. and plan to do several headlining shows afterwards which should be announced in the coming months.

In closing do you have any words  of advice or message for your fans and readers of this

publication?

Just thank you for supporting us, supporting metal, and making everything we do possible. If there were no fans there would be no us. We’ll see you all on the road very soon.

Thank you so much for your time. I know you are all quite busy.  Looking forward to seeing you on the road….soon!
