Welcome to the Alpha Omega family and regards from Metalheads Forever magazine! How have you been? Can you please walk us through the events leading up to your joining the Alpha Omega Management group?
Thank you! We’ve been very busy the last couple of months, but that’s just the way we want it, so we’re good! Sure! Basically we heard about Alpha Omega from friends of ours, and decided to have a look and see what they’re about. After that things just fell into place naturally. They seemed excited to work with us, and we liked their approach towards us and how they work with the bands.
Please tell us your experience with Alpha Omega was it everything you expected?
So far so good!
Can you tell us about the band and the current roles of each band member?
After the release of “Al Chem” we’ve been quite busy trying to perform in as many places as possible and bring our music and live-show to a much wider audience than before. When it comes to our roles in say the writing process, we work very much as a unit. We write our music together, then shape it and hone it until we’re all satisfied with the end result. With the exception of the lyrics, which is handled exclusively by our frontman J.N Uduun.
You’ve been classified into many genres ranging from Atmospheric Death to Black Metal. What do you think?would you care to describe in your own words? How do you feel about the classification of music?
I’m not quite sure how to classify our music. We’ve had this dilemma before, and so far I think the most accurate one has been something along the lines of: Atmospheric blackened death metal; but to be honest I don’t think that it needs to be confined into a category. We don’t work like that, when we write music we don’t really aim for a specific branch, we do what we feel fits the theme for the song or album we’re working on. In regards to classifying music in general I don’t really think about it that much, for me personally it’s either good or it’s not, and that’s about as much as I like to classify it.
Tell us please when and where the band was formed?
The band was formed in Gothenburg in 2007.
Tell us about the line up. Have you ever undergone any changes?
Our current lineup has been in place since the recording of our debut album “Obsidian Stonemirrors” in 2012, with the exception of our newest addition Gabriel on the bass guitar. We’ve undergone some changes through the years, but that would be the most recent one.
Tell us the story behind the naming of the band?
The name stems from “nights abyss” or “the chasm of the night”, since a lot of our lyrics revolves around the night, dreams and some occult things therein.
Where do you get inspirations for your lyrics? Is there an overall theme about your music?
Various aspects of life, nature, litterature, dreams and occult curiosity. I wouldn’t say that there’s a constant over all theme to all of it, all the songs on our latest album “Al Chem” do however have some things in common thematically.
Tell us about the Gothenburg scene. How has the scene influenced the band?
I’m not sure the scene in Gothenburg really differs that much from any other big city. Not that much, to be honest. We’ve kind of kept to ourselves and done our thing most of the time.
Has the “Gothenburg sound” ever influenced your music? How do you plan on making Nox Vorago stand apart, thematically and musically?
Not that I know of, no. We’ve worked quite hard with finding interesting themes and subjects for our lyrics, and to make our music fit that. Whether or not we’ve succeeded is all in the eye of the beholder, I suppose.
You’ve shared the stage with many prominent bands, tell us your favourite experience?
Hard one to answer! I think for me personally it would be the first festival appearance we did, at MetalTown festival in Gothenburg back in 2013.
What are the Band’s plans for the second half of 2017 heading towards 2018? What about touring? Festivals, new material/Album?
We have much in store for the second half of 2017 and 2018! We’re constantly working on new material and more live shows will be announced shortly.
