New York Speed-Metallers Announce New EP ‘Fables & Folklore’ & Release New Single
New York Speed-Metallers ShadowStrike announce their upcoming EP ‘Fables & Folklore’ due for release on September 22nd via Avalon Records. The band also unveils their first offering ‘Once Upon A Beginning’ in the form of a pure melodic speed metal masterpiece bolstered by galloping riffs and dramatic solos across a fantastical aural landscape.
This feisty tune kicks off with an uplifting harmonized lead paving way for savage riffs, fast and fluid solos and an energetic rhythm section propelling the song towards its masterfully executed crescendo. Vocalist Matt Krais showcases his multi-octave belts delivering melodies that can effortlessly go from sublime to siren evoking the polished ferociousness of Legendaries such as Dragonforce & Stratovarius. Mixed & mastered by Tommy Hansen (Helloween, Jorn, Aquaria), ‘Once Upon A Beginning’ is a cinematic, enthralling and all-encompassing journey as vibrant as the accompanying Music Video.
Bassist Jon Krais speaks on the new single and EP “Once Upon a Beginning” is an uplifting hymn that displays ShadowStrike’s brand of high-octane symphonic power metal and introduces new folk elements to the band’s signature sound. As the song kicks off the EP, an ominous orchestral glissando explodes into a soaring bright melody that takes the listener to their world of fantasy. This kind of song is a staple of our sound: fast-paced and melodic with a lot of positive energy while still keeping the edge and grit that metal offers. When we write songs like this, part of the goal is to come up with something that makes you want to sing along and headbang at the same time. This EP has a lot of content that is a bit different from our other stuff, but we also wanted a track that stayed true to our core style. I think any song that can do all of that is a great fit to be a single.”
