Rook Road presenting new video single Sometimes:
Grand cinemotion for lovers and those who wanna be
Most people cling on tight to at least the one song that bears the power to carry them off and into their very own, intimate world. Calm, panoramic deserts, dramatic sceneries and heart-pounding emotions awaken whenever the worlds of sound and imagination conflate into a superhuman beam of energy within ourselves. Scores which actually manage to reach into the listener’s soul and lift the heavy curtain that veils our mental cinema screen – those are rare. However, Rook Road might have just revealed such a gem titled Sometimes.
In the vein of a pure, classic rock ballad, the track evokes the affecting impressions of devotion, love and self-sacrifice, forgoing unnecessary kitsch or squiggles but showing a lot of soul instead. ”Sometimes is a declaration of love, it’s all about the will to walk any path together with your partner, no matter how hard that may be. The basic idea for the composition manifested itself in October 2019 on an off-tune piano.”
The stories told by Rook Road tend to stretch beyond their lyrical form, these stories of friendship, solidarity and self-expression are rooted deeply in the individual musicians’ personal experiences. They don’t only grant a peek at the big moments and clandestine splendor inherent in each person’s life: The appeal of the small and the subtle, the touching imperfections all play a big role, too. And when the off-tune piano string sends forth a great love song’s very first tone in its fragile vibe, it becomes an image of the imperfection of a loving human being. It’s then that we allow the powerful Hammond organ to remain silent and give its place in the final piece to a grand piano, played with great dedication.

The band’s prior single Talk Too Much is the prime example of a gripping hook blowing right in your face without further ado, a true power rocker even by Rook Road’s standards: “The song is about windbags who talk much and say nothing – only to obscure what’s been written all over their faces: an abyss of ignorance”. One can’t argue with that but might wanna add a great little something: Talk Too Much is the perfect symbiosis of a soundtrack and a pressure valve for, the moment when putting up with this certain kind of clown becomes unavoidable. Both singles line up next to Kinda Glow, a rather complex song that deals with revolution while encouraging standing up for yourself and listening to your own needs instead of following others blindly, giving their listeners something real and tangible to feel.

Fresh to the music scene as they have been formed in early 2020, Rook Road are bringing back some tunes that may have become a little forgotten by some people but certainly the die hard fans won’t ever forget.
