Unquestionably their fiercest, most accomplished album to date in sound, concept, and execution, the twelve-track Angels Hung From The Arches Of Heaven stands among the most volatile and plainly dangerous records to come out of 2022. “Angels… consistently rages without ever devolving into the samey sounding banality that plagues so many less adept practitioners,” writes Decibel Magazine in a 9/10 review of the record, adding accurately, “Angels… just gets better the longer it plays.” In a 4.5/5 rating, MetalSucks concurs, “Angels Hung From The Arches Of Heaven reeks of all-American sweat and grime while giving you a taste of authentic European flavor. It fuses death metal with the mysticism and other hallmarks of black metal, adds in some NOLA soul, injects adrenaline-fueled thrash elements, and builds upon the backbone of classic metal.” In another 9/10 score, Blabbermouth hails the band’s, “most diverse, epic and savage release all at once — an impressive feat for any band this deep into its career.” Adds Lambgoat in an 8/10 score, “Sammy Duet’s guitar sound is reminiscent of some of Matt Pike’s tones on later High On Fire releases, yet you can hear each rumbling riff and each delay-soaked lead part clearly and effectively. The drums pummel away at your ears, thundering along between d-beat, marching tom-heavy beats, and blasts; all of which are beaten into your ears at full velocity. The mix gives way for everything to be heard clearly, and you really can pick up on every bit of murderous, violent intent in the performances, especially in Louis Falgoust II’s vocals.”

Angels Hung From The Arches Of Heaven was produced by Jarrett Pritchard (Exhumed, 1349), who handled the band’s Vengeful Ascension full-length, and tracked primarily at Studio In The Country in Bogalusa, Louisiana under pandemic restrictions. Additionally, the band recruited acclaimed producer Kurt Ballou (Converge, High On Fire, Gatecreeper, Code Orange) to mix the record with final mastering duties handled by Grammy-award winning engineer Ted Jensen (Ghost, Gojira, Cult Of Luna). The record is tied together by the art of longtime collaborator Jordan Barlow whose cryptic use of sigils holds deeper meaning to the record’s whole.

“Angels… consistently rages without ever devolving into the samey sounding banality that plagues so many less adept practitioners. Angels… just gets better the longer it plays.” – Decibel Magazine

“…the band’s most diverse, epic and savage release all at once — an impressive feat for any band this deep into its career.” – Blabbermouth

“Angels Hung From The Arches Of Heaven is a dark, evil, misanthropic piece of art that new and old fans of the band are likely to find truly gratifying. This album is worth your time and undivided attention.” – MetalSucks

“Angles Hung From The Arches Of Heaven proves yet again that one of the hardest working bands in metal can continue to impress us with their tried and true brand of blackened extremity.” – Metal Injection

“…a blood-spewing banger that harnesses everything that makes this band exciting in one tight package. The interplay between frontman Ben Falgoust’s diverse array of growls and guitarist-vocalist Sammy Duet’s goblin shrieks is terrific, and their masterful transitions between black-metal speed, thrash riffage and just plain ripping death metal heaviness is unmatched.” – Revolver on “Born Of Satan’s Flesh”

“A vicious brew of blackened thrash and death metal is GOATWHORE’s M.O., and ‘Born Of Satan’s Flesh’ hits that multi-genre intersection at blinding speeds. Guitarist Sammy Duet rains down precision riffs while frontman Louis Ben Falgoust II spouts blasphemies through his bellowing snarl. The accompanying performance clip offers a glimpse at what it would be like to witness the brutality live.” – Consequence

“GOATWHORE ascends to eviscerate all expectations. Angels Hung From The Arches Of Heaven exceeds the related genre’s boundaries and redefine their sound and place in the landscape of metal.” – New Noise Magazine

“Twenty-five years into their career, GOATWHORE is here to do what they do best: rip, shred and tear with their signature blend of death, black, thresh and traditional metal, without apology, no quarter given.”  – Knotfest

“…one of the gnarliest blackened death metal bands ever.” – Denver Westword

“For a quarter of a century, GOATWHORE has begun a new campaign of terror with this album, channeling their darkest and most malicious release in some time. Perhaps, having been closer to pestilence and a plague than ever before, with wars fought, famine still a problem for millions and countless people passing each day as a result of it all, the band was able to fully embrace the means to bring the end.” – Lambgoat
