This is a rock album, let there be no mistake: heads will bang and bodies will rock throughout this latest high-energy seven song offering from Perfect Mess. As boundaries of music genres continue to fall away, we would not dare label Perfect Mess. Some might call their music a mix of metal, grunge or emo rock; some might say alternative metal with shades of fusion/funk; we will just say ROCK. And it is rock at its best, with forceful, driven, and defiant commentary about our world; varying musical anthems of lamentations and warnings on everything from climate change to those things that tear at the social fabric of our lives. In Breathe, you will come for the music but stay for the lyrics — and the music will keep you coming back.
The artistry and skill of these musicians, honed from more than ten years of journeymen effort in the underground music scene of Greece, make them another hidden gem that deserves greater international exposure that Spider Music intends to deliver. With Spilios Iliopoulos on lead vocals and guitar, pairing his incredible talent with Vassilis Kourkoutas’ guitar and Yiannis Vollaris’ bass, and every song either led or driven by Spilios Dt Iliopoulos’ muscle-bound and lighting-fast drums, Perfect Mess’ album Breathe is indeed a breath of fresh air on the crowded rock scene. Just the guitar work on Breathe brings hints of Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan, and as your body rocks to the music you might sense influences across rock’s spectrum of Metallica, Nirvana, Guns N’ Roses, Disturbed, and even Fall Out Boy. But this band has their very own sound and their own message that will hook you and move you — literally.
It was a great pleasure to have the band on the Interview to talk on the new album “Breathe”, Check out these amazing guys on the below YouTube Video.
