Greetings from Metalheads Forever Magazine, I’m Keith Clement the editorial head, how are you today?

Hi Keith, nice to meet you and thank you so much for your interest in our musical project! I’m Elisabetta, singer and writer! The sun shines warm today… it’s time to rock! 🙂

Perry: Hi Keith, I speak on behalf of all the band members and thank you for hosting us in your program. I would say that despite a depressing world situation, thanks to the abyss we can see beyond the worst things. I’m Perry the composer and arranger.

Your new single “Makena” is out, Can you tell me about the song and production behind the single?

This song a duet, a very special one because it is sung by two women (Bethel and Luned) who love the same man, both talk about his virtues, but just one (Bethel) is his partner. It’s a song of respect and love with a little of sadness because Luned can’t share her true feeling with her friend (Bethel).

Perry: I tell you the compositional version, the idea was to create a delicate initial atmosphere to describe the place and mood of the clan. The second part of the song describes Makena emphasizing her importance for the clan and then arrive at the chorus first collected then more incisive that definitely enhances the character.

Was there any particular concept behind the single?

This song is played at the beginning of our rock opera and introduces a very peculiar character, a king of a Celtic Clan named Makena. He won’t sing during the whole opera but he has an important role because two of the main characters love him. This song sounds folk and delicate, it shows the love and respect dued to him by the two singers and the connection ti the nature of the life in the Clan.

Perry: I couldn’t tell it better than Elisabetta

Opera Rock/ Theatrical Play, how did it all started for you?

It all started in 2018 when I had a 3 months’ dream: it was a very special one because it showed me a woman’s life during the Celt period in Italy. This story became a book and a Rock Opera (the show is based on the first chapter of the novel).

When I was dreaming and writing I informed my friend and very talented musician Perry Magnani, he read the story and felt it was worth to be translated into music too.

We worked together for 6 months to have all the music and lyrics done (26 songs), then we looked for singers/performers and a band. 8 months later we had out debut. 🙂

“Oltre l’Abisso” means “Beyond the Abyss” and it is a two layer’s dream: the story and the dream of this music production. It’s a real Abyss because it’s a very demanding project.

Perry: I’ve always wanted to compose a rock opera and Elisabetta’s book gave me the idea to realize this dream of mine.

What are some of the upcoming plans?

We are working on the acoustic version of the show must will take place in November, before it we will have some piano & voice performances for libraries and book festivals. We are working hard to finish our album and in the next year we will have a new theatre show.

Perry: Finishing the album is the priority today, but we are also preparing different show solutions for the various occasions that will happen to us, as Betty says from the cultural event to the theatrical representation.

Would you like to tell me about a bit of history behind your musical background?

I (Betty) have a Conservatory degree as an opera singer, I have a master in Vocology too and a singing therapist. I still sing opera and medieval music but my heart Is rocking and I think this Opera Rock is the project that describes me best (as a singer and as an artist).

Our performers and players have very different music backgrounds that I’d like to tell you, but I’m afraid it’d a too long answer since we are 3 singers, 5 musicians, 1 director and an actor.

Perry: Unfortunately or fortunately I’m not a kid anymore, my musical training starts in the ’70s and I would need a week to tell you everything… in short my passion has always been the composition where research and curiosity have me always and continue to do it, stimulated to find ways to communicate my emotions through music.

Are there any plans to come up with a full length album?

Of course, it’s one of my dreams! 🙂 We are almost there, I hope you will listen to it when it will be ready. We are very proud of our work and look forward to make Wanikiya Record spread it to the world. 🙂

Perry: Betty reply for everyone

How do you look into the future?

I hope we will bring more often the show in the theaters. Personally, I’d like to translate it all (book and songs) in English. Italian sounds great, but it’s a pity so many people can’t understand what are we singing about. “Oltre l’Abisso” is about self-research, responsability, love and spirituality.

Perry: see our rock opera represented by other companies both in Italy and abroad. I’d like to spread “Oltre l’Abisso” to other artists.

What are some of the musical collaboration and ideas you have for the future?

We’d love to have an harp or violin player in the band.

Perry: It would be amazing to hear it from an orchestra

What would be the biggest dreams?

Bring “Oltre l’Abisso” and all the Clan on Broadway! Hihihihihi!!!!

Perry: why not!?

What would be some of the greatest moments?

To have a full show, it’s a very special moment. We feel part of the same thing and are focused to reach the best we can.

Sometimes we have concerts with no drama part: it’s funny, but to play the role of Bethel is … something very deep, that’s hard to describe.

Perry: Perform the songs in a state of semi-unconsciousness and be carried away by the visions

What is the message you want to deliver to your fans and readers?

Never give up your dreams and never let your inspiration fade. Look the time you have with the eyes of love.

Thank you so much for your time and curiosity, it has been a pleasure to bring you in the Abyss! 🙂

Perry: Follow your instincts and share it with those who respect you. The Others shift
