This month our Member of the Month is Kurtis Hodges! Kurtis posts frequently and if you visit his profile you can see that he truly has a love for metal. He recently saw the Twins of Evil tour featuring Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson!
I got in touch with Kurtis and asked him a few questions so that other members can get to know him a little better.
How did you get into metal? Was there a family member or friend that introduced you to it? How old were you when you first got into metal?
Well I have been into metal since I was about 10 or so. I’m 18 now. But I guess it started when me and my family went to this local event called Groovefest in the town I’m from. It was basically local bands playing for a bunch of drunk people head banging their heads off, but it was fun. I didn’t head bang much then but I had short hair too, but now I head bang all the time. Plus my dad is a huge metal fan. He played a lot of metal around the house like Metallica and some other stuff like Type O Negative, Ozzy, Black Label Society, Pantera and lots more. Guess that’s where I get it from. And the first metal album I got was Hellbilly Deluxe 2 by Rob Zombie
Do you play any instruments or sing?
No but I would like to know how to play either drums or guitar, possibly even sing.
Name your top 7 favorite bands.
Rob Zombie
Ozzy
Pantera
Korn
Dio
Butcher Babies
Motorhead
Is there any one musician or band that really inspires you?
Rob Zombie because he makes off the wall ideas cool. And his music is so out there. I don’t think there will ever be anyone in metal like him again. Plus he not only makes killer metal music but he also really killed it at being a movie director. I will always love his films and music.
(I, Monica, would just like to add that I couldn’t agree more at this point—Rob Zombie is definitely a unique musician and I love his horror flicks as well. I also enjoy going back and finding/watching the old horror flicks that he took clips from for his music or that just inspired his style/music/films. He’s a very interesting guy.)
What do you love most about Metalheads Forever?
I get to interact with metalheads from all over the world.
If you would like to be our Metalheads Forever Member of the Month and get an interview with us it’s really easy: post lots of music and interact with other members!!! It’s just that easy!
