Today, Finnish melodic death metal force AS THE SUN FALLS unleashes the official video for “Kuolematon Aurinko”, the opening track from their upcoming EP “Pohjoinen Sydän“. The video marks a ferocious new chapter in the band’s journey, where blistering riffs collide with northern melancholy, and the eternal sun rises over a land shrouded in shadow.
Musically intense and visually stark, “Kuolematon Aurinko” (Immortal Sun) sets the tone for “Pohjoinen Sydän“, capturing the duality of beauty and destruction at the heart of Finnish nature. The track weaves mournful melodies with relentless rhythm, evoking the emotional turmoil of isolation beneath an ever-burning sky. It’s not just a song — it’s a warning, a eulogy, and an anthem for all who feel disconnected in a world growing ever colder.
“Pohjoinen Sydän is our most personal and grounded work to date,” the band states. “Entirely in Finnish—with one unique part in Swedish, sung and performed by our bassist Oskar Englund—the EP is a tribute to our home country, Finland: its beauty, its history, and our deep, often complicated connection to its nature… The stories we tell demanded a sound that’s raw, melancholic, and direct.”
The EP also marks the first studio appearance of new vocalist Joni Hakulinen, whose commanding presence adds fresh power and urgency to the band’s already formidable sonic identity.
Mixed and mastered by Owe Inborr (Wolfthrone Studios) and adorned with stunning artwork by Gogo Melone, “Pohjoinen Sydän” is set for release on May 23rd via Theogonia Records.
