Tongue Tied” is about finding your voice in a world that doesn’t listen. This is our rebel yell against being silenced by self doubt.
Fueled by late nights, broken expectations, and the pressure of living life on someone else’s terms, “Tongue Tied” is our reflection on the chaos of existence. We talk about a lot of our own experiences in this song, and how we had to fight against societal norms to live our dream of making music as Autumn Kings.
We are super stoked on how Jake’s vocals came out on this one. There’s a blend of melodic vulnerability and emotional intensity against a hip-hop oriented, rhythmically aggressive backdrop – and we tried to bring all of those elements together here.
The production on this came together great too – the guitar riffs hit hard and the chords feel turbulent. We are so stoked to be bringing this to you live on tour with Nonpoint and Upon a Burning Body in a few weeks. This is our middle finger to mediocrity and our cry for authenticity. Pop-rock band Autumn Kings, who have been steadily buzzing for the past year and with over 50 million streams and counting, have landed a brand new label home.
