The single announces the EP “Chapter XII”Out on 6.05.2025
Chainsword is a Polish band that plays Old School Death Metal – dirty, heavy and hard, like the life of a soldier on the front. The band loved the 1990s musically, and lyrically they focus on Warhammer 40k and both world wars of the previous century.
‘Primarch’ is the first track that announces the release of the new Chainsword EP. The album “Chapter XII” will be released on May 6, 2025.
‘The track ‘Primarch‘ tells the story of Angron, known as the Red Angel, one of the Emperor’s twenty sons. Before being found by the Empire, he grew up in captivity, forced to fight as a gladiator, which shaped his brutal nature. As the Patriarch of the World Eaters, he was fierce and cruel, surpassing all his brothers. During the Horus Heresy, he abandoned the Emperor, giving in to his uncontrollable lust for blood and destruction. Ultimately, he gave his soul to Khorne, the Lord of Skulls, becoming his most powerful champion.’ – Chainsword talks about the song ‘Primarch’.
Chainsword‘s “Chapter XII” EP will feature seven tracks. Five of them are new Warhammer 40K-themed compositions. The two remaining ones are songs that, due to the time limit of the vinyl, did not fit on the previous album “Born Triumphant”. These are: ‘Good Mourning, Vietnam’ and ‘Fox, Rats, Blood & Guts’. They will treat respectively – about the Vietnam War and World War II in North Africa.
The album was recorded mainly under the supervision of Mikołaj Kiciak, and mixed, like the previous albums, by Haldor Grunberg, who together created Sound of Records.
The group was founded in 2016 in Warsaw. The first single “Dreadquake Mortar” was released in 2018. After two more songs, in 2021 Chainsword released their debut album “Blightmarch”, thanks to the Godz Ov War label. The first album received positive reviews. In 2024, the band released their second album titled “Born Triumphant”.
Chainsword played numerous concerts. They also performed at many festivals. Among others, the Polish Summer Dying Loud and Black Waves Fest, the Hungarian Insane Hellride Fest and the Finnish Mökäfest.
