The influences of Australian glam rock band Crosson are varied. Names such as Motley Crue, Dokken, Scorpions and KISS are mentioned in the press release. The band is named after singer and guitarist Jason Crosson. I was unable to determine when the band was founded. However, their debut album ‘Head For Earth’ was released in 2005. So Crosson have been active for at least twenty years. During this time, they have released six studio albums, one live album and several EPs. Their seventh studio album, Guilty Of Rock, will be released in June.

Crackling riffs accompanied by keyboards – that’s what the mid-tempo rocker ‘Nobody Wins’ offers. Jason Crosson’s vocals sound clear and somewhat dark. That fits well with Hair Metal. ‘No Solution’ starts briefly with polyphonic a cappella vocals. But then there is catchy, melodic and mostly calm Rock again. ‘Bound For Glory’ is then a little harder. The drums pound, accompanied by powerful guitar melodies. An electric piano repeatedly pushes its way to the foreground. And it sounds as if the two dancers are also providing the background vocals. ‘Guilty Of Rock’ is also rocking. Powerful vocals and rhythmic drums dominate. But the guitars are also always present. The refrain is catchy. In the second part, you can hear a strong guitar solo. In ‘Love You In Another Life’, beautiful melodies dominate again. Once more, there is an extremely catchy refrain. And seductive-sounding background singers. In the second part, there is a small break, and the tempo picks up a little in the meantime. As expected, ‘Warriors Of The World’ sounds a little combative, at least at the beginning, although the keyboards soften this effect. But the guitars do bang a bit heavily at times. There is also another good guitar solo to be heard here. Piano sounds and a subtle bass melody introduce the power ballad ‘Heaven’s Bell’. Calm and powerful moments alternate. The guitar, which acts like a second vocal part, is particularly noteworthy. In the meantime, the ballad section is abandoned a little. ‘Tomorrow’ is another harder and faster song. The refrain is accompanied by keyboard tapestries. ‘Our Way Or The Highway’ stomps rhythmically along. In ‘Don’tcha Bring Me Down’, the guitars fry from the start. Later, riffs dominate.

‘Guilty Of Rock’ is light entertainment for the masses. And that is definitely not meant negatively. Catchy melodies and anthemic, easy-to-sing refrains are repeatedly accompanied by good guitar solos. The musicians deliver a more than solid performance. Even after several listens, it’s still fun to listen to and never gets boring. Crosson bring back the spirit of eighties Hard Rock.
