Dani Hart
Slaying Bluebeard
Out: January 31st, 2025
Playing time: 18:41
Dani Hart is a powerhouse vocalist, songwriter, and vocal performance coach lighting up the heavy rock and hard rock scene.
I’ve got used to these and similar sayings by now. Of course, the music of the respective artists is measured by such praise. The singer, who comes from Chile and now lives in Belgium, is actually called Daniela Hurtado Espinoza. The press release compares her sound to bands such as Halestorm, The Pretty Reckless and The Warning. Dani has been active since 2006 and has played in various bands. I couldn’t find out from her website when the singer started her own project. The EP ‘Let the Children’ was released in 2017, and she performed at the Graspop Metal Meeting in 2024, among others. And the EP ‘Slaying Bluebeard’ will be released in January 2025.
After a few noises, the riffs of ‘Running’ start banging out of the speakers. The vocals start with a Blues Rock touch. Dani Hart has an expressive voice with a high recognition value. Sometimes calm, sometimes really powerful, with a slightly snotty attitude. Her comrades-in-arms on the instruments provide plenty of noise – in a positive sense. The drums are booming and the two guitarists play insane guitar solos. ‘After I’m Gone’ starts quietly with plucked guitars. Dani shows her fragile side vocally. Later, electrically distorted guitars kick in, accompanied by an oppressive bass. An outstanding power ballad. With ‘No More’ things really get going. Rock’n’roll that turns you on. And we hear another facet of Dani’s vocals. A little higher, less Blues, but more Rock. And then there’s another twin guitar solo. ‘Millennial Tribe’ starts with banging rhythmic drums. Dani switches to a darker timbre. Although a calm mid-tempo song, it rocks out hard. The interplay between the two guitarists is impressive. A bass melody booms behind them, almost as if it were the third melody-leading guitar, albeit in the low-frequency range.
Dani Hart has recorded a strong EP with ‘Slaying Bluebeard’. Her vocal diversity is impressive. As a singer, she really is a power woman. And for the recordings she invited musicians who know their craft. The vocals are powerfully accompanied. There are four very varied songs on the EP. Dani and her men really do have what it takes to lighting up the Hard Rock and Heavy Rock scene.
