Swedish heavy rock powerhouse Electric Hydra are back with a music video for a brand-new song titled “Scent of Blood”, premiering today at The Obelisk, who hailed it as: “At its heart, ‘Scent of Blood’ is a sans-BS, pretense-free heavy rock and roll song that, in terms of ambition, wants nothing more than to bring you along for its sub-five-minute ride.”

The track is taken from the band’s upcoming album From the Fallen, due out in early 2026 on Majestic Mountain Records, a high-voltage record packed with 11 tracks of high-octane grooves and bone-rattling riffs.
On the song’s long journey, bassist Ellinor Andersson shares: “‘Scent of Blood’ is a song that has been with us for many years now. It’s been recorded twice, with different members, and even had three different titles. You could definitely say it was one of the first songs written for the album.”
Vocalist Sanne Karlsson adds: “Dennis wrote it right after our debut came out in 2020. Maybe it’s a good thing to let a song live its own life before you release it — we’re really pleased with the way it turned out.”
The video, directed by Jacob Hellenrud (Children of the Sun, Nephilia), matches the song’s fire with flames, fury, and fashion. “The main character Carita is fierce, unafraid to shine, and Jacob captured that perfectly,”Karlsson says.
Lyrically, “Scent of Blood” is about seizing what you want in life with full force, a theme mirrored in the band’s renewed energy. Guitarist Emil Andersson notes: “It’s heavy, but still full of catchy hooks and raw power. I’m proud to have contributed to this new chapter for Electric Hydra.”
Like the mythological beast they’re named after, Electric Hydra have only grown stronger after setbacks. Following their acclaimed 2020 self-titled debut (Majestic Mountain/Tee Pee Records), they now return recharged with two new guitarists, Emil Andersson and Adi Selimic, and an album that promises to be their boldest yet.
