Elettra Storm took the power metal scene by… storm with the flawless 2024’s debut album “Powerlords”.
As with the debut album, the press info for ‘Evertale’ also contains great words about the band. Certainly, ‘Powerlords’ was a good album. But the Italians now have to prove whether this praise is justified with the follow-up. Especially when the press release speaks of a big step forward. The band line-up hasn’t changed since the predecessor, so that one can speak of a well-rehearsed team. Good prerequisites for another top-class album.
Why a song with the title “Endgame” is at the beginning of the album and not at the end probably remains a secret of the band. Nonetheless, it is a strong musical prelude. A booming double bass lies beneath the synths. The riffs bang and Crystal Emiliani’s powerful voice is as impressive as on her debut. The growls of Francis D. Mary. After a short industrial introduction, the Italians really rock out on ‘The Secrets Of The Universe’. Despite all the hard riffs, there are always beautiful melodies to be heard. The vocal duo Emiliani / Mary fit together wonderfully. And the guitar solos are exceptionally good. On the anthem ‘Hero Among Heroes’, the twin guitars (Francis D. Mary / Matteo Antoni) are often in the foreground. Once again, the vocal duo is convincing. On “Blue Phoenix”, drummer Matteo Norbedo drives his bandmates on again. After a few piano chords, the next Metal anthem follows with ‘Ride The Rainbow’. But Elettra Storm naturally provide variety. Another Heavy Metal storm is unleashed with ‘Master Of Fairytales’. Keytar player Davide Sportiello shines here with a solo. The power ballad “One Last Ray Of Light” then provides the long-awaited breather. Crystal Emiliani’s vocals are calm and sometimes with a deeper timbre. But even here she shows again and again how much power she can put into her voice. Another outstanding guitar solo crowns this song. The fact that the musicians don’t immediately go back to merciless power shows the band’s musical sense. ‘Judgment Time’ is another melodic Metal anthem. The closing song ‘If The Stars Could Cry’ is also anthemic. The guitar riffs provide a Metal heaviness. The guitarists show off their skills one last time.
On ‘Evertale’, Elettra Storm show a clear further development compared to their debut. The proportion of hectic keyboards has decreased significantly. Instead, there are many excellent guitar solos. However, I like the ballads and the great Metal anthems best. This is Power Metal the way I like it. Keep it up!
