Emerald Sunday is a Scottish indie/rock band, made up of founding member Alan Hunter (guitar/vocals),with Euan Mushet(bass), Mike Martin (vocals), Matthew Fleming (lead guitar), Mike Juraszewski (drums) and Andrew Taylor (keys). The Scottish rockers have performed on the same stages as some of Scotland’s rock and indie legends, including Big Country and Primal Scream.

With an eclectic mix of influences, ranging from Oasis and Stereophonics to Porcupine Tree and Skid Row, the band’s sound has drawn comparisons to Emerson Lake and Palmer and, fellow Celts, Feeder. Following a charity event in Leeds, connections were made with Richard McNamara, of Embrace fame, which led to McNamara producing and performing on their album, ‘Willow’.

The band recently joined forces with flowery punk rocker Sandi Thom releasing the soaring ballad ‘Sitting in the Stars’, which brought them back into the limelight, increasing their visibility, whilst gaining new fans and media attention with global airplay. They ended the year with the festive release ‘I Wish The World Would Sing’ and followed this up with the stunning ‘Losing Ground’ earlier this year, which received further praise and was ‘Track Of The Week’ on BSBTV. They have already announced some highly anticipated major shows for 2025!

“Lyrically the best thing I think I have ever written! usually the focus for me is on the melody but this time I chose to write a touching story. The song is about a guy who walks by a beautiful woman on the banks of the river in New York. They smile at each other and have a connection but little did he know the girl is about to end her life and jump in to the water. Then its just about how she survives then end up together and a her life is completely turned round for the better. Originally it didn’t have a happy ending but I thought ‘f*”k that’, there is enough doom and gloom in the world, lets put a positive spin on things” – Alan Hunter
