The Brazilian Death Metal band Ereboros has released its long-awaited debut album, “From Oblivion to the Grave”, featuring ten tracks that explore inner conflicts, the marks left by difficult experiences and the search for some meaning amid chaos. Available on digital platforms, the album is also reaching audiences in physical formats, with a vinyl edition through Elessar Records and a CD release by Cianeto Records. After presenting four singles that offered a glimpse into different aspects of their approach, the quartet finally unveils the complete work, built on personal experiences and a dark perspective on the human condition.

On “From Oblivion to the Grave”, Ereboros finds in the aggression of Death Metal a tool for addressing suffering, anxiety, disillusionment and the difficulty of moving forward when reality itself seems to lose its meaning. Most of the lyrics stem from the members’ personal experiences, bringing everyday feelings and conflicts into the compositions while connecting them to universal aspects of the human experience. Musically, the album alternates crushing heaviness with melodic passages and suffocating atmospheres, maintaining constant tension and a grand sense of scale throughout its ten tracks. There is a direct relationship between the harshness of the compositions and the reality that fuels them. Amid the brutality, the melodies deepen the emotional weight of the songs without diminishing their impact, creating room for different nuances within the band’s approach.

The album’s release was accompanied by the music video for “Distorted Man-Made Concept”, produced by the band itself, with filming and direction by Ramon Melo and editing and color grading by Diogo Barbosa. The song criticizes religion as a human construct created to justify power, control the masses and impose rules based on myths and false promises of justice. The track questions how fabricated beliefs can be used by rulers and institutions to manipulate people, fuel fear and offer illusory hope. It also addresses the human need to find an explanation for existence, even if that means believing in fictional narratives. Ultimately, the lyrics denounce the contradiction of a system that promises justice while keeping its followers blind to reality.

Formed in Rio de Janeiro, Ereboros emerged in 2023 with experienced musicians from the Brazilian underground scene, combining traditional Death Metal, atmospheric passages and striking melodic lines. Since their first releases, the band has been developing a distinctive identity, both through their attention to songwriting and the way they weave social and existential themes into their music. Their careful arrangements, precise performances and professionalism are also reflected in the quality of their work, which balances the genre’s brutality with melodic nuances and themes connected to human experiences.

After dozens of performances throughout Brazil, Ereboros has also taken its journey beyond the country’s borders, with shows in Europe and Mexico and a growing presence in the international Death Metal circuit. The members’ accumulated experience and the series of releases leading up to the album helped introduce the band to new audiences, while the music videos and artwork developed for the project contributed to establishing its visual identity.

All band members took part in composing the album, bringing different contributions to its ten tracks. This collective approach is evident in the record’s diversity and the strength of the band’s identity. The personal dimension of the lyrics also brings the work closer to listeners who find in music a way to express feelings that are difficult to put into words.

Ereboros’ current lineup features Thiago Barbosa on vocals and guitar, Juan Carlos on guitar, Paulo Doc on bass and Victor Mendonça on drums.

“From Oblivion to the Grave” was produced by Ereboros itself, while Victor Mendonça handled the recording, mixing and mastering in Rio de Janeiro. The cover artwork was created by Vitor Wilemann. The physical release is available on vinyl through Elessar Records and on CD through Cianeto Records.
