Frollein Motte – Kick-off for the ‘Los Tanz’ Tour 2025 and band reunion
Location: Klangbar Hamburg Bergedorf
Date: April 11th, 2025

It was the opening concert of the ‘Los Tanz!’ Tour 2025. And it was to be a very special concert. For the first time in eight years, the band’s best line-up to date was on stage. Back then under the name beige, the five-piece now celebrated their reunion as Frollein Motte. And there was something else to celebrate: the two masterminds Das Frollein and Motte were celebrating their wedding anniversary. It was also a premiere for the band, the first time they had performed at the Klangbar in Hamburg-Bergedorf. You can find all the pictures of the evening on Flickr.
It’s not often that I’ve seen a stage at ground level that is only recognisable by the carpet laid out. The show started with the song ‘Nichts ist umsonst’ from the 2020 album ‘Zeit’ (Frollein Motte). The following ‘Das Frollein’ (‘Tabularasa’ 2012, beige) is considerably more years old. This song is practically the front woman’s figurehead. Here, Frollein Mandi really gets down and dirty, wearing heart-shaped sunglasses. ‘Königreich des Nichts’ (‘I’ 2008, beige) is even four years older. And so, it went on, hits from almost eighteen years of beige / Frollein Motte. Other highlights for me were ‘Fan’ (‘Tripf Tropf Nass’ 2015, beige), ‘Endlich’ (single 2021, ‘UWE’ 2023, Frollein Motte), ‘Hinter der Gardine’ (‘Zeit’), “Alarm” (from the band’s eighth album, which will be released in November) and ‘Die Schönste’ (‘Tabularasa’). Of course, ‘Das Fenster’ (‘I’), a song written for the non-profit organisation Dunkelziffer e.V. in Hamburg, was not to be missed. The Motten have been supporting this organisation since the band was founded. And they collect donations at every show, including this one. Incidentally, ‘Das Fenster’ was the first song I heard from the band. There is also a video for it. The official closing song was ‘Dein Kleid’ (‘Tripf Tropf Nass’). But the fans didn’t let Frollein Motte off the stage that easily. They vehemently demanded an encore. ‘Sandmann’ (‘Mehr geht nicht’ 2009, beige) ended the evening.

Oh yeah, Frollein Motte / beige returned to their old strength on this evening, which had already been hinted at beforehand. You could clearly see the musicians’ joy of playing. It was a more than two-hour showcase of the Motten rockers’ work. The anticipation for the eighth album, which will be released in November, is growing. And will be celebrated with a release show and party to mark the band’s eighteenth anniversary in Maria’s Ballroom. I have one more comment. That was the band’s best and heaviest concert I’ve seen so far. Although unfortunately my favourite song wasn’t played this time either. But you should never give up hope.
