Quite a short playing time for a complete album, but it’s still quite interesting. And, of course, it’s very modern for me old bloke. Something to do with Core, Alternative or Nu Metal, although as always, these terms put me off. Unless we’re talking about Classic Hardcore, like New York Hardcore for example. But I digress and it doesn’t matter that this isn’t the case here. I’m sure the editor-in-chief pushed it on me because, despite my preference for extreme metal, he also knows that I like stuff like Linkin Park. Although there’s a lot of core-heavy here, pleasant female vocals often take the lead.
The disc is quite varied. There is a relaxed middle section on ‘The Looking Glass’ and electronic sounds also keep the sound exciting. However, it is still a harder pace than the previously mentioned, yet quite radio-friendly combo. With a great song like ‘Cursed Till The End’, things get a bit spherical. The opening roar of ‘The Prototype’ is reminiscent of Disturbed, but that doesn’t detract from the band’s originality.
