Corpus Christi’s IDENTITY CRISIS — Reece Gonzales (vocals), Parker Menck (guitar), and James Kremling (bass) — have expertly revived ’90s alternative grunge for the freshest batch of rock ‘n’ rollers. Starve is raw, loud, and emotionally wired. The EP, produced by Jim Kaufman (Helmet, Everclear, Return to Dust), scratches that deep, familiar itch for ’90s-era rock while refusing to feel like a throwback. There are shades of that Soundgarden weight and Pearl Jam-style urgency baked into the DNA, but it’s filtered through something more immediate and restless. Blown-out guitars, rhythm sections that feel like they’re barely holding together (in the best way), and vocals that swing between restraint and total rupture — it’s nostalgia without imitation, memory without dust.
