IMHA TARIKAT pay tribute with new lyric video ‘The Sun Goes Down
(A Thin Lizzy Interpretation)
‘  taken from forthcoming album
Confessing Darkness

IMHA TARIKAT unveil a heartfelt homage to Phil Lynott and Thin Lizzy in the shape of the lyric video ‘The Sun Goes Down (A Thin Lizzy Interpretation)‘. The final advancesingle is included as a bonus track on the Digipak and Artbook versions of the forthcoming album Confessing Darkness“.

The fourth full-length from the German black metal band has been chalked up for release on June 202025.

IMHA TARIKAT comment: “When we were in our early twenties, we used to lock ourselves up in our rehearsal room, where we drank, punched walls, and threw bottles through the hallways of the complex while listening to black and thrash metal”, mastermind Kerem Yilmaz recalls. “This was always followed by a less glorious need to fix our hands at least to the point of being able to pick up our instruments again and to clean up our own mess in order to keep our rehearsal space. We were wild and raging, but it was a way of channeling our fury into something less harmful than actually hurting people. Growing older meant to face the growing responsibilities on our shoulders even though we did not feel like it. We all needed this stage in our lives to become the persons that we are now. During one of those nights, when the sun began to rise, I was sitting with my friend Ricardo in such a mess. We were listening to music and talked about what was on our minds. He put on Thin Lizzy’s ‘Got to Give It Up’, and I was captivated by the tune, even though I had never been much of a hard rock fan. Their music began to speak to me and felt if it was also about my life. Phil Lynott’s lyrics and stories moved me, and they have stayed with me ever since. Then I saw ‘The Sun Goes Down’ performed in a live video and it was filled with such a deep melancholy. Each note was fueled by an underlying connection to the song, and Phil Lynott’s groovy bass playing was coupled with the distant world reflecting in his eyes. It still gives me goosebumps even thinking about it. There was a true artist playing music, while living through the emotions and switching between the moment and burning memories. This inspired me to pay homage to this song and to Thin Lizzy. I knew immediately how I wanted the song to sound. The song ‘Steg’ by the Norwegians Trelldom has this very cold and monotonous riff running through the majority of the song, which is made complete by Gaahl’s obscure spoken vocals. This was how ‘The Sun Goes Down’ felt to me, and with these two ideas on my mind, I created this tribute.”

Everything about IMHA TARIKAT has always been real: the anger, the despair, the hatred, the bursts of energy, the eternal longing, and also the boundless passion both on record and live on stage that borders on physical self-destruction.

On their fourth album, “Confessing Darkness”, the German black metal innovators are once again pushing hard against all the boundaries that define the genre without ever losing the essential connection to the harsh style. Black metal has always been a much less narrowly defined musical beast than outsiders or jealous gatekeepers have often insinuated.

IMHA TARIKAT have previously made use of all the possibilities that the genre offers while still carving out their own territory. Their dark kingdom is built on two pillars: Musically, a relentless pushing and unstoppable drive forward characterise their sound. “Confessing Darkness” delivers even more of that raw energy than before. The other foundation is a deep emotional intelligence that fully utilises the ability of black metal to express every feeling ranging from purest love to darkest hatred, from severe depression to outbursts of joy. And again, this album takes these personal confessions several steps further as it is all true.

This time around, IMHA TARIKAT‘s lyrical and musical mastermind Kerem Yilmaz aka Ruhsuz Cellât has created the whole album in a studio environment, which benefits the sound. He has also opted mostly for shorter, sharper assaults. The tracks on “Confessing Darkness” come straight to the point and let go when they have spent their devastating power.

IMHA TARIKAT and its black sound were created as an emotional pressure valve for its founder, Kerem Yilmaz. Already the first EP “Kenoboros” left an excellent impression in 2017, while the following demo “Son Mistisizm” (2018) conquered new musical territory. The debut full-length “Kara Ihlas” (2019), the sophomore black metal supernova “Sternenberster” (2020) and “Hearts Unchained – At War with a Passionless World” (2022) are all part of an ever escalating black spiral that reaches a new critical mass with “Confessing Darkness”.

IMHA TARIKAT have matured as “Confessing Darkness” clearly demonstrates. Yet although some of the youthful sonic violence has waned while experience and hard won musical knowledge are waxing, the German black metal outfit has only gained in conviction and strength. Beyond doubt, “Confessing Darkness” marks a milestone in the rise of IMHA TARIKAT.
