Incendiary Thrash/Crossover Metallers Martyrs Saint Release From Strength To Strength

Hailing from Bristol, in the UK’s south west, Martyrs Saint have been carving out their own niche in the area’s thriving underground music scene with their powerful, no-holds barred contemporary take on crossover; bringing together the groove, impact and attitude of hardcore with the energy and aggression of thrash – adding a palette expanding dose of musical skill and creative ambition. The rampant force of their pit inducing live performances has seen them sharing the stage with bands from across the hard-hitting sonic spectrum; from the metal of Absolva to the blackened thrash of Grave Altar, the death metal of Psycroptic to the punk of Broken Jaw and thrash metal of Hellfekted and Hellbearer. They also delivered a set at this year’s Southwest Heavy Fest, alongside Visions Of Disfigurement and Inhuman Nature, that was described by From The Pit as “…uncompromising and vicious…savage enough to shatter concrete…”. Now Martyrs Saint are ready to unveil a debut EP that delivers all that ferocity and all those addictive riffs, showing the full extent of what this band have to offer – From Strength To Strength!

The title track, ‘From Strength To Strength’, kicks off this EP in a blast of muscular riffs and attitude infused vocals. It’s an irresistible invitation to the pit, delivering blow after unforgiving blow, a grinding anthem of defiance and self-belief that leads straight into ‘Enemy Of My Enemy’ with its twisting guitars and devastating drums – every snare beat from Louie Hawkes like a shattering skull. There’s a pitbull bite to the delivery, bolstered by the colossal bottom end supplied by bassist Harvey Lewis and blazing lead guitar work brings an additional dimension to the song. Up next is the incredible ‘In Amber’, an epic, emotive, song that evolves through different movements and features outstanding individual performances from every band member. Brandon Goodair showing just how strong his voice is and Amaré Hurley unleashing some breathtaking solos. Building from an atmospheric opening to vast, towering chords and laced with the most potent melodies, ‘In Amber’ is a display of ambitious excellence – and there’s still more to come! Final track, ‘The Divine Art Of War’ begins with snarling guitars like chained wolves, straining at the leash and ready to attack, before serving up a magnificently measured assault of crunching aggression, the band operating as a supremely locked in unit. From Strength To Strength is a standard thrust into the earth, a barrage of heavy artillery that announces a new musical force ready to take on all comers.

Produced and mixed by Lucas Fletcher (Shrike, Espera, Apathy etc) at Shell City Studios, From Strength To Strength sounds magnificent – fierce, colossally heavy, textured and impactful.
