In the heart of the power metal resurgence stands INDUCTION, a name that has quickly become synonymous with the genre’s new wave

A famous name could vouch for that – guitarist Tim Hansen, son of Metal icon Kai Hansen (Helloween, Gamma Ray). Originally formed in 2014 in Pardubice (Czechia) as Martin Beck’s Induction (until 2016), the band is now based in Hamburg. Their self-titled debut album was released in 2019. The breakthrough came with the second album ‘Born From Fire’ (on the Reigning Phoenix Music label). Now the band’s third full-length work is in the starting blocks.

‘Virtual Insanity’ starts with a short intro. But soon both guitarists – Tim Hansen and Justus Sahlman – show off their skills. Gabriele Gozzi’s vocals sound somewhat distorted at times. But for the most part, he sings with a rocking voice. In ‘War Of Hearts’, the guitarists are initially driven by drummer Markus Felber. Later, the song mostly moves into calmer waters. As in the opening song, there is a powerful guitar solo, followed by some epic choruses. Synthesia playfulness introduces ‘Dark Temptation’ before crashing riffs kick in. Again and again, keyboard sounds provide a high degree of epic bombast. Spoken voices at the beginning of ‘Steel And Thunder’ create a slightly martial atmosphere, but later on, guitar riffs dominate once more. ‘Strangers To Love’ is a great Metal anthem with epic choruses. Gabriele Gozzi has a female vocal partner here. Unfortunately, the press release does not reveal who this is. In ‘Beyond Horizons’, the tempo picks up again, thanks to the drums and guitars. However, the vocals are a little quieter at times. The title track ‘Love Kills’ (without an exclamation mark) and ‘I Am Evil’ are further anthems. The two closing songs, ‘The Veil Of Affection’ and ‘Empress’, also have a very epic feel to them, despite the tempo.

I have only just got to know the Power Metal band Induction. But with their album ‘Love Kills!’, they have definitely found a new fan. It’s forty-one minutes of top-notch entertainment. Catchy melodies are presented very well musically. Added to this are powerful guitar solos. The band fully deserves the ‘Power Metal Rising Star of the Year’ award (RockHard 2022).
