What was the beginning pint for your music career? How did it all start?

Karnage Through Crossing formed out of the development of a band from 2018-2021 called Nova 1 Featuring ex members of Grunge bands, metalcore bands, founded by Rhyse Tremel and his partner, a lead guitarist who use to play during the first lineup of a now touring speed metal band from Calgary. Strained tensions from unsuccessful recruiting and member dropouts during Covid lead to the disintegration of the band in 2022, where Ashton Lal was training to become the next Drummer. With Rhyse and Ashton remaining in the band, Rhyse took his songs from Nova 1, recruited and trained a couple bass guitarists, and started recording with Ashton.

Was there any bumps on the road? What kind of challenges did you have to deal with?

There has been so many obstacles and changes with this band is hard to sum it all up. We started as a 4 piece, went through a lot of lineup changes through Covid into the 2020’s, released our debuts on a very limited budget and production experience, then thundered back with a heavily elevated live performance and new singles. This music we make is our way of showing the scene the hidden strength and perseverance we all have even in the toughest of times, it’s what keeps us going and what inspired our first fans to become a community.

What was the most fulfilling and satisfying moment so far?

Releasing our debut full length album. It was a long time coming, between some of the songs being 4-5 years old from the previous band and all the lineup changes to get a team on board, it was a great relief to cobalt be able to share those songs with everyone.

How would you describe the music that you typically create?

Our music is a gritty and empowering, melodic crossover, of old school heavy metal, thrash, and Death Metal.

What is your creative process like?

A song usually starts with an idea or a melody. With an idea you have so much vision you can easily incorporate a message and music together with a clear identity and direction. Occasionally when a song starts with a melody all the guitars are written first then the mood of the song inspired lyrics.

If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

Monopolies between venues, distributions companies, record companies, and marketing networks. They all work together to exploit us, and make millions while we make fractions. We would like to make music more independent again, yes take partnership pressure away from companies pigeon holing touring bands, and allow festivals to be cheaper.

If you were asked to give a piece of advice to upcoming bands, what would that be?

You need to be willing to make sacrifices and stock to it for years. If you busy range to have fun, great for you, but if you want to succeed you can’t treat it as a casual hobby. If working hard at music makes you unhappy then it’s not for you, music will test you, and rarely do those with options choose the tough track of a music career. Dedicated yourself, lock in, and get your F**** rest.

What has been the best performance of your career so far?

In March 2025, shortly after finishing our debut album release concerts and just before recording our two new singles, we played a show in Calgary Alberta with Tower Hill and Lycanthro. It was one of our best performances and a killer honor to play with such skilled bands!

If you didn’t become a musician, what would you be doing now?

The founders had education opportunities in Electrical Automation and wealth management

What is new with the band at the moment? What are you currently working on and would like to share with the world?

On September 5th we are released our highly anticipated new single, The Underground, fairing elements of Heavy Metal, Thrash Metal, and Death Metal, with an impressive higher grade of production and a heavier approach, this song is one for the ages.
