Greetings from Metalheads Forever Magazine, How are you today?
Hello my friend and readers from Metalheads Forever Magazine! All good, spinning some Mephitic Corpse tunes and Hail Slaytan while answering this interview.
Your debut album “Catatonic Symhony” was out on March 18, would you like to tell me about the songwriting and production behind it?
Well, it was an hard process, as the full compositions were made during the Covid times in March/April of 2020. 5 years have passed and a lot of personal and band changes but here it is the record and i´m 666% satisfied with it! The ideia behind the band, and because i´m the fucking biggest fan of Slayer, was to create something that would be the following record of their classic 80´s era, and i think we achieved that.
Was there a concept behind the album?
Lyric wise no, but i believe the lyrics are connected themself because they deal with a lot of my internal issues and struggles. Music wise, all the concept is to do what Slayer did and elevate it 666% through hell awaits, no more, no less!
8 Thrashing Classic sounding songs, with total brutality bringing back the good ol Slayer days, how do you feel about the outcome?
I feel great, the songs were made 5 years ago and the recordings were made a year ago, but i wouldn´t change nothing today! As a pure listener this is what i love to listen on my free time, high speed Thrash Metal with a special focus on the riffs, drum patterns, dynamics, song structures, vocal patterns, etc. The mix itself came out great for my ears, evoking a lot of the 80´s but not sounding outdated for ther modern ears. Hanneman would be proud!
Are you planning to make an official music video from the album?
Not really, mainly because this isn´t a “normal” band. This is kind of my personal project with help of my great friends and musicians Lex Thunder (Toxikull, Ex Midnight Priest), Paulão (Perpeträtor, Ex Firstborn) and Cadaveric Bitchhunter. We never rehearsed all together and it isn´t planned to play gigs as well.
Did you do something special on the day of the release of Catotonic Symphony on March 18?
Just the typical promotion things, and it was great that we received the physical CD copies on time, because sometimes delays happen and it is a fucking mess. So, i was happy with these little things that we achieved.
Are there any touring plans for the year?
As i said on previous answer, it is difficult to play live with this band, because it is mainly a studio project. But let´s see what happens in the future, i´m open to try something regarding playing live, even if probably would be a nightmare with all the logistics behind it.
Can you tell me about Raging Slayer and how it all started?
Raging Slayer started in 2019 as a pure personal project of miself. I play guitar for a long time but i never played Thrash Metal in my life. So, i was experimenting this kind of new sound and techniques on guitar and quickly the riffs started pumping like an atomic bomb. But because the riff picking is so fast and different from i was used to do, i needed help for a tight guitar tracks on the record and that´s when i contacted Paulão, who is a master on his craft and he recorded the rythm guitar and bass, and did the mix and master of the record. As i said before, Slayer is my alltime favorite band and i just wanted to pick the best Slayer version and evolve from it.
What would be the upcoming plans for the band?
Promoting this record, because i think it as a lot o potential! In the next months the plan is to record two tracks for a Split 7´´. I have the guitars and drums allready recorded so let´s see what happens.
How do you look into the future of the band?
I would be happy just to stay active and put out releases on a regular basis, and then see what happens because i would never compromise my music with external factors besides my love for the music itself.
What would be the big dream?
To have Dave Lombardo playing on a Raging Slayer record! ahahah
Any message for the fans?
Be happy and kind to each other, Peace!
